Obituary of Michael John Bacon

October 16, 1978 - Uranium City, Saskatchewan
July 31, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Michael Bacon of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the age of 42 years.

Michael was born in Uranium City, SK on October 16, 1978. At the age of four he moved with his family to Edmonton where he grew up and developed many lasting friendships.

In 2002, Michael moved to Calgary to attend the Alberta College of Art and Design and then furthered his education with a mechanical design diploma from SAIT. Since then, Calgary has been his home.

Michael had a curiosity about the world that was reflected in his varied and eclectic interests. He loved skateboarding and space science, technology and videography, had an encyclopedic knowledge of automobiles and a passion for American musical history, and always displayed a deep appreciation for art and beauty. His work gave him the opportunity to travel around the globe, but the things that Michael valued most were always right here at home.

Michael valued his friends and family above all else. He spoke often of his love for friends and family members, and he was deeply loved in return.     And, without question, the most important people in his life were his daughters, Vera and Dorothy. They were his pride and delight and his love for them was deep and unwavering.

Michael will always be remembered for his kindness, his loyalty, and his thoughtful intelligence, and especially for his quirky sense of humour. Even in the darkest days, Michael’s quick wit could make everyone laugh!

Michael is survived by his two daughters, Vera Bacon, and Dorothy Bacon of Calgary; his parents, Jim and Mona Bacon of Edmonton, his sisters, Rachel Westgeest (Anthony) of Thorhild and Rebecca King (Robert) of Edmonton, his brother Joel Bacon (Mozhgan) of Edmonton, as well as many friends and extended family who share in this loss. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel Of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
