Obituary of William Swee Siang NG

May 29, 1942 – Singapore 
July 29, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

William Ng, beloved husband of Alice Ng (nee Tan) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the age of 79 years.

William (Bill) was born in the Republic of Singapore on May 29, 1942 and immigrated with his family to Canada in 1987. 

William attended Singapore Polytechnic while beginning a fast-rising professional career with multinational companies in Singapore, and eventually took the leap as an entrepreneur launching multiple ventures such as Similux Trading and Singapore Bill’s Restaurant in Saskatoon.   

William married Alice in 1965 - the year Singapore gained its independence.

He was always an active member of the various communities he lived in from the Dale Carnegie Rock Chapter, the Knights of Columbus and Lions Club International in Singapore, Saskatoon and Calgary. 

William accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of leading the first Singapore trade mission to Tianjin when China initially opened its doors to the world in 1978.

William will always be remembered as a devout husband and loving father who always enjoyed engaging and stimulating conversations with diverse cultures especially over good food. 

Besides his loving wife, William is survived by his three sons - Clement, Edmund and Daniel and two daughters-in-law, Benia and Tammy; five grandchildren, Wesley, Brooke, Emma, Sarah and Hannah. William is also survived by his siblings Philip, John and Connie in Singapore; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in Singapore, Canada and the United States.  He was predeceased by his brother Patrick.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.  Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr Ng’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
