Obituary of Robert Donald DICKIE
April 19, 1932 – July 30, 2021
Bob Dickie, beloved husband of Gladys (Glady) Dickie (nee Nawolsky) passed away peacefully on Friday, July 30, 2021 at the age of 89 years.
Bob was born on April 19, 1932, in Miniota, MB, a small close-knit farming community. Bob’s parents immigrated from Scotland and raised Bob and his two sisters, Jean and Maud, on a small farm outside of Miniota. After moving to Calgary, Bob met and married Glady, his loving wife of 67 years, and they raised their family in the community of Glamorgan. Bob owned and operated Superior Automotive Supply Ltd. When Bob wasn’t working at the “shop,” he pursued his love of the outdoors. He was an avid sportsman and many weekends were spent either fishing or hunting, often accompanied by his faithful canine companion, Kelly. Bob and Glady enjoyed their travels overseas and the road trips they made in their motorhome throughout Canada and the U.S. and made many lifelong friends along the way. Bob was a man of strong opinion and shared his wisdom through conversation that often ended with “and that’s all there is to it!” A life well lived.
Bob is lovingly remembered by his family, his wife Glady, and his children, Brenda Glendon, Barb MacFarlane (Bill), and Jim Dickie (Mary-Jane), all of Calgary; his grandchildren, Brock Allen (Stephanie) of Victoria, Jenny Dyck (Kevin) of Swift Current, Kyle MacFarlane of Calgary, Jessica Bedard (Jamie) of Minneapolis, and Jared Dickie (Colleen) of Toronto; and his great-grandchildren, Madison, Avery, Cohen and Allison.
A reception to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the McInnis and Holloway Hospitality Centre (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB). In living memory of Bob Dickie, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
