Condolences
Dear Tom and Family; It is with heartfelt condolences to your profound loss. Margriet was a very unique deeply caring person. Her wit and humour will always be remembered. She was a college for many enjoyable yrs of working together. She always gave so much of herself, her thoughtfulness abounded to all, listening and doing for others was her strong trait. She will be remembered with sadness but also a smile for her wit and humour. God bless her, RIP. Anita

Dear Tom,
I cannot imagine the sense of loss you must feel. Margriet was an exceptional person. She was kind and thoughtful, intensely compassionate, yet so humble. I have so many fond memories of our times together. Margriet will be missed but never forgotten.
With deepest sympathy.
Love,
Alex

I met Margriet back in 1984 through my ex-husband Paul van Deursen who was born and raised in the same town in Holland - Helmond - as Margriet. Margriet was friends with Paul's older sister, Marike. A generous, feisty, loving woman, Margriet cared about things that really mattered. She was the opposite of superficiality, Despite all the changes that the 21st century has wrought, she hung onto her old world values but she was progressive at the same time. She was always interested in other perspectives, particularly the ideas and thoughts of young people, what they were doing, aspiring to achieve, the challenges that they were intent upon overcoming. Remembering with much sadness, Barbara Janusz
Margriet and Tom gave us some beautiful houseplants as a housewarming gift a few years ago. They are both almost 6 feet tall now, and still growing! I like to think that Margriet's spirit lives on in these plants.
I will miss her empathy, her sense of humour, and the sincerity with which she would ask, "how are you?" when I'd see her back home in Calgary.
Lots of love,
Alycia and Ian
Dear Tom and family,
It is with deep sorrow that I send you my warmest, sincerest, heartfelt condolences. Margriet was a sweet, loving, caring friend who will remain in my heart always. We shared many precious moments together over the years. Her love of literature and concern for those struggling always shined through her presence. She gave a lot to everyone she knew, always keeping abreast of everything going on in our lives, even when she was sometimes struggling herself. I loved her wit, authentic laugh, and smile. She will be missed by many.
