Obituary of Joan Graves (nee Hansen)

It is with great sadness that we announce that Mom passed away peacefully at the Skypointe Hospice on Saturday, August 14, 2021.

Mom was a very special lady who was loved by all her family and friends.  Her door was always open to anyone who dropped by.  Even in the hospice mom had wine and Pepsi to offer to her visitors. Mom hosted many Danish luncheons for her friends and family over the years, a tradition everyone looked forward to. An amazing spread of food and Akvavit were enjoyed! She was the hostess with the mostest! 

She loved watching curling, doing her puzzles, reading and bowled right up until the pandemic hit.  Mom also loved her trips to the casino with her family/friends.

Joan is survived by her children, Rhonda (Brad), Jeff (Rita), Sandra, and Greg (Cassandra); her grandchildren, Alysson, Scott, Meagen (Nick), Wyatt, Tara (Kevin), Lisa, Veronica, Kaiden, Grayson, and Ryersen; and her great-granddaughter Ophelia Joan.

We will always cherish the memories of our Momma Bear!

A Celebration of Life will be held at Crossroads Community Association in the Main Hall (1803 – 14 Ave N.E. Calgary, AB), on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here.
