My memories of Wade bring broad grins to my face and a fair amount of head shakes... He was a large presence and the inspirational leader of our engineering cohort at the University of Alberta. Wade was the only guy that knew all the words to the Engineers' Song... but Wade did give a damn for every damn man. He was as kind as he was loud, as wise as he was witty, as caring as he was spontaneous. I really looked up to Wade and thought "that's the sort of person I want to be". The profs probably felt a bit barnstormed in those classes Wade and I shared... but they loved his energy and enthusiasm.
Mostly I admired Wade and especially his relationship with Adela that showed us what love and dedication to another person looked like.
On those rare occasions we were able to get together in later years, it was an easy reunion. I'll miss that so much... Wade's family, friends and especially Adela are in my thoughts.
