Obituary of Carrol Ione MORKIN

December 13, 1947 – Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
August 28, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Carrol Morkin, beloved wife of Patrick Leo Morkin, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the age of 73 years.

Carrol was born and raised in Moose Jaw, SK. Following high school, she worked as a dental assistant. Carrol met Patrick on a blind date and they married on July 8, 1972. They moved to Lethbridge, AB for a period of time, eventually settling in Calgary in 1981. Carrol was a stay-at-home mom until the girls entered school. She then worked as a special needs assistant with the Calgary Catholic School Board. Upon their retirements, Carrol and Patrick travelled to many places including Ireland, Hawaii and Mexico where they made special friends. Time spent with family and friends was most important to Carrol. She also enjoyed gardening, baking and had recently taken up golf. Her kind, gentle nature and beautiful smile brought joy to everyone she met.

Carrol is survived by her husband, Patrick, three daughters, Nancy (Edwin) Sanchez, Julie Morkin (Chad Sallows) and Angela (Kevin) Whelan; four precious grandchildren, Olivia, Spencer and Sophia Sanchez and Patrick Whelan. Carrol is also survived by her brother Kevin (Yoomi) Craig of Japan, sisters-in-law Ruth Murphy of Guelph, ON and Mary Morkin of Ilderton, ON. Carrol was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Phyllis Craig, Patrick's parents, Leo and Mary Morkin and many much-loved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
