Marloes PRESTIE

Obituary of Marloes Maria PRESTIE

March 11, 1984 – Tilburg, The Netherlands
August 29, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Marloes Prestie, beloved wife of Sean Prestie, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her husband on a serene Sunday at their home in Calgary.

Marloes was born to Jos and Diny Baijens, a welcomed daughter to her parents and big brothers, Bob and Jeroen.  She was raised on the family farm near Dongen, the Netherlands. Marloes lived life to the fullest in her 37 years, always on her terms.  A sense of adventure brought her to Canada, where she met Sean in Edmonton in 2008.  They were married in a windmill, appropriately, in Kaatsheuvel, the Netherlands on June 22, 2013 and started married life in Calgary. Always the animal lover, Marloes spent countless hours volunteering at the Calgary Zoo and enjoyed many activities including running, cycling, camping, rock climbing, crocheting, embroidery and of course pottery.

Besides her loving husband, Marloes is survived by her family in the Netherlands, parents, Jos and Diny Baijens, brother Bob (Martine Baijens) and their daughter Renée, her brother Jeroen (Claudi van der Velden) and their daughter Pip; and in Calgary, her father and mother-in-law, Ryan and Marilyn Prestie and Sean’s younger brother Zach (Kassy Rizopoulos), and her much-loved cat Belle.

In addition to the immediate family, there are many relatives and friends who mourn her loss.  Thank you especially Manon, Losanne and Laura for the support of your dear friend. As well, thank you to members of the Southern Alberta Breasties and others for your contributions of meals, treats and encouraging messages and cards over the past five months. Your support was truly a blessing and enabled Marloes to remain living at home for as long as she did.

A Celebration of Marloes’ Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the funeral home.
