Obituary of Leslie Arthur Chapman

July 3, 1948 – Cochrane, Ontario

September 5, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Les Chapman, beloved husband of the late Myrna Chapman (nee Noble), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at the age of 73 years.

Les was born in Cochrane, ON, on July 3, 1948. Les was raised in Clute, ON and spent time in Toronto before moving to Calgary, AB in 1975. Les accomplished much through his life, including raising eight girls while going to school to become a heavy-duty mechanic. He was a man of few words and had a love for photography, garage sales, auctions, antiques and nature.

Les will be most remembered for his dry sense of humor, and his sarcastic yet loving manner. Anyone who knew him , knew you could count on him for anything. He taught his daughters how not to get ripped off by the almighty Government, how to make a meal out of nothing, how to rebuild a transmission on the kitchen table, and how to love and survive in nature. But most importantly how hard work will get you everything; which is how all of his girls became strong independent women. All eight of his girls were proud to call him Dad.

Les is survived by his daughters, Beverley, Joan (Will), Wanda (Fernando) Juanita (Tim), Elaine (Tim), Charlene (Trent) Melanie (Mike) and Heather (Kelly); twelve grandkids whom he loved dearly; seven wonderful great-grandchildren, and a beautiful great-great -granddaughter. He is also survived by his best friend and furbaby Nanook. Les is also survived by his three sisters, three brothers, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Les was predeceased by his parents, Eldona and Lemuel Chapman; his loving wife Myrna, brother Terry and his three fur babies Geisha, Kiko and Riko.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Les’s favorite charity, The Calgary Humane Society, 4455 – 110th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB  T2C 2T7, Telephone: (403)205-4455, www.calgaryhumane.ca,  or to the rescue of your choice.
