Obituary of Arthur Anthony Antaya

Art Antaya of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the age of 90 years old, after a weeklong battle with Covid-19.
Art was an avid reader, churchgoer, and for many years got his greatest joy from his cabin in Saskatchewan. He always kept the grounds immaculate there and loved spending his time fishing. Art was a Korean War Veteran, so very proud to have served his country. He was also retired from his career as an orthopedic technician. Art will be dearly missed by many.
Art is survived by his loving daughter Cathy who was with him to ease his pain and provide comfort as he left this world. Cathy’s husband Brian was always highly spoken of by Art and they shared a special relationship. Art is also survived by his son Marke (Jodi), and daughter Juhli (Mike), grandchildren, Quintin (Rose), Keenan, Courtney, Logan, Camdyn, Zoe and Kenzy; Jennifer, Kimberly and Kristen; sisters, Josephine (Wayne), Rose Marie (Richard), Alice (late Edward) and Margaret; sister-in-law Kathy (late Ted), and brother Michael. He also leaves behind his special friend Ann who loved him dearly. Art was predeceased by parents, Arthur and Alice; brothers, Raymond, Paul, Donald, Peter and Ted; and son Cam (Brian). He has gone now to be with the love of his life, Darlene. Art was loved by many including his nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here.
Many thanks to everyone at the Colonel Belcher, Normandy Unit, who helped to ease Art’s transition into long term care. He was such an independent man and never did like to ask for help.
In living memory of Arthur Antaya, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
