Condolences
I met Jim when he first moved to Calgary, enjoyed his honesty and sincerity throughout his career. One of the good ones, he will be missed. Loving thoughts to his great family legacy. His smile will live on in all our memories.

I’m very sorry to learn of Jim’s death. A sudden shock and tragic loss to Cynthia and the whole family. Jim was a naturally happy person who was never short of a witty remark. He will be missed.

Jim and I are first cousins; Aunt Helen, Jim's mom, was my father's sister. We grew up and played together on Davidson Avenue, Bell Island NL. Our homes were literally across the street from one another. I have many fond memories of Jim, his brothers and Denise. I am so sorry to learn of his passing. Rest in peace, my friend.

Jim was such a kind, generous and decent soul. Truly one of those Salt of the Earth people. He was a great guy to work for. My condolences to Cynthia and family.

So sad to hear of Jim’s passing, my thoughts are with you all at this difficult time. To have known Jim means you have at least one funny memory that will stay with you for life but it was the every day interactions at the office, his (loud) infectious laugh, his happy face & smile. I remember him counting the days to retirement he was so excited & I'm glad he got to enjoy it. Gone to soon
I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Jim was my first boss at Royal insurance, and I will always have great memories of him, both as a boss and as a person.
Dear Cynthia and family,
Eric and I were so saddened to read of Jim's passing. The Jim I remember was always upbeat and collegial to all. When you lived in Red Deer, Jim was my contact in the field. I was new at the Royal. We spoke daily and he helped me greatly. When I returned to the Royal in 1990, Jim's smiling face was there to welcome me back. Living near you for many years we saw your family grow up.
Thinking of you at this sad time and I wish you endless comfort in recalling great memories of Jim.
Take care,
Mary Jane Howell
Not only was Jim my first boss when I moved to Calgary, he was my skip on the ice. Always had a grin and a chuckle. My condolences to Cynthia and family.

Jim was a character. Always there to make you smile, work a little bit harder or get you to “kiss a cod”! Jim had a glint in his eye and always a hand out to help. A wonderful man gone from this mortal coil too soon. My deepest condolences to Cynthia and Jim’s family.
Debbie Day- I am sorry to hear of Jim's passing, that is a shock. I worked with Jim at Royal and had the honor of calling him my boss. He was the funniest man to work with and we loved his humour. If he asked me to help with catching people up, there was no way I would not have helped, He installed a feeling of loyalty, as his way of dealing with people was humour, BUT we as his team always got the job done. His wife Cythina's baked goods didn't hurt either, to be bribed with. He was great, funny, family orientated man, always spoke of the family to us. He will be missed by all, but I am sure he is up there having a great time and keeping people entertained and feel comfortable in his presence. My thought's are with Cynthia and all of the family. He will always be remembered.
Dear Cynthia and Family I am saddened to hear of Jim's passing. He could always make me laugh. He and Bruce playing ball or finding a bonspeil to attend just used to make me smile as I knew there would always be a story.
Prayers for you all.

ohhhh Jim, How you made me laugh. I would be coming over to chat with you and you would say "here comes trouble" with a big grin on your face. You made me smile every day at RSA, We would exchange recipes, (your wifes recipes). We were talking about soup and how your wife made the best split pea soup, a week or so later you were so kind enough to bring me a sample. Delicious!
Your kindness, smile and amazing sense of humour will be missed. Keep Jim's memories alive. ❤

Jim was a beacon of light every time he entered the room. He was always positive and his laughter was infectious.
We shared the love of curling and he introduced us to the Risky Rock Curling league. Thank- you Jim! We were new to the city and because of you we met so many great people. We curled on his team for many years and had many great laughs over a drink after the game.
Gary and I always looked forward to a card game with him and your mom. It wasn’t about winning. He enjoyed the camaraderie, conversations and snacks!
One of our favourite memories was our vacation with him & Cynthia in Hawaii! Jim was the type of guy who wanted those he was with to enjoy themselves. He went with the flow and enjoyed himself no matter what the situation.
It was always special to us when we spent time with him in Phoenix and he loved showing us around. This was definitely one of his happy places!
He spoke so proudly of his children and grandchildren. And always had a story or two to share with us. He couldn't wait until the next dinner when he could be surrounded by all of you.
We counted him among our closest friends and will miss him greatly.
We share your grief.

Jim was a true Nnewfoundlander in both attitude and deed. He certainly . retained the trademark accent even though he left Newfoundland many years ago for the greener pastures of Alberta.. A friend that everyone should have had the opportunity to have known in their own lifetime.
Having retired back to Cape Breton from Calgary in 2015 I have not been in direct contact with Jim since that time and I sincerely pass on my heartfelt condolences to all of his family. Jim will certainly be missed but I am sure that the memories he has left will keep you laughing for years to come.
Our thoughts are with Cynthia & all of Jim’s family as we send our heartfelt condolences . We have fond memories of working with Jim over many years. One of our fondest memories was attending an Office Luncheon where Jim produced a fish , asking everyone to “ kiss the cod”, a Newfoundland Tradition. You could always count on Jim’s sense of humour and infectious laugh to lighten up the room. We shall remember Jim with great affection. - Bob & Ethel.
