Obituary of Steve Hardcastle

November 6, 1951 – Calgary, Alberta

October 31, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Hardworking, honest, loyal, fun-loving, detail-oriented, mischievous, and genuinely good are some words that can be used to describe Steve. He was born and raised in Calgary and spent most of his life there. He loved his mountain retreat in Canmore where he enjoyed the beauty of the Rockies.  Although Steve was outgoing, he was also very private and did not readily share his accomplishments with others. He was a vice president at Alberta Health Services and chaired several boards, with two of his favourites being the United Way of Saskatoon and Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation. Steve enjoyed sports (especially golfing), entertaining friends, being outdoors, and travelling.  His last journey was to the Foothills Hospital, where he passed away due to surgical complications. The medical staff in the ICU has to be acknowledged for the care and treatment that they provided to Steve during his lengthy stay.

Steve’s greatest accomplishment was his family, which brought him unimaginable joy. A family trip to Disney World gave him many cherished memories. Left to honour his life are his wife (Barb), his children (Lorian and Chris/Steph), his grandchildren (Siena, Brooklyn and Hudson), and his comical puppy Wicket. They will truly miss their Bumpa. Steve touched the hearts of many and was deeply loved by family and friends.
