November 2, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Agnes “Nancy” Turner of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the age of 83 years.

Nancy was born in Edmonton, AB, on September 10, 1938. Although she did not love school in her younger years, she went on to pursue a career in teaching. Nan taught English and particularly enjoyed her time teaching Grade 9. Nancy married James Turner in 1963 and they started their life together in Hussar, AB. They were married for 56 years. She was a devoted member of the Edith Cavell Chapter #25 of Eastern Star and spent many years supporting Job Daughters Bethel #23 and other Jobie activities in the province. Nancy accomplished much throughout her life and was very proud of her achievements with these organizations. Nancy enjoyed music and volunteered her time playing piano at senior’s facilities. She was also talented with crafts and sewing, donating much of her work to benefit charities. She sewed new cheerleading uniforms for Bert Church High School when she taught there and attended many of the games, combining her love of sewing and sports. Nan was a passionate animal lover sharing her life with many cats and dogs over the years.

Nancy is survived by her three daughters, Cathryn Gunn of Nanaimo, BC, Cynthia (Wade) Brocklebank of Calgary, AB, and Candice (John) Johnson of Airdrie, AB; and her nine grandchildren Mat (Tanis), Wes (Sharon), Courtney, Reese, Charlotte (Dylan), Jackie, Nicolas, Marcus and Carolyn. Nancy is also survived by her cousin Alice who was like a sister to her.
