To the family of Allen Dong. My sincere condolences on the passing of Allen. May his memory live in our hearts forever. Until we meet again.
To Allen’s Family,
I had the pleasure of working with Allen on the cancer committee, where he showed me the ropes some 7 years ago. We also discovered a shared history of training in public health. He always took time to check in and sincerely inquire about my own life and experiences, while sharing warmly about his own family, passion for the community and a greater sense of purpose. He was one of the kindest people I have met. His passing is a huge loss and I am grateful to have known him. Please know that with the waves of grief comes memories of his love and importance. No one can ever take those memories. May Allen Rest In Peace and may you find some solace in knowing what a truly amazing person Allen was.

I am so sorry to hear of Allen’s passing. I had the privilege of working with Allen at the Alberta Lawyers Indemnity Association. Due to COVID-19 restrictions we only ever had the chance to meet remotely, but even through a computer screen it was evident that Allen could light up a whole room. He brought a sense of joy and humor to every meeting and virtual get together, and he always spoke with such enthusiasm about his family (especially Natalie and her accomplishments) and his travels. I am so glad to have met Allen, even if for a relatively brief time. He was a valued member of our team and will be greatly missed.
Elaine & Natalie,
We are so sorry for your loss. Our sincere condolences to you & your family!

My sincere condolences to Allen's family. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Allen at St. Lukes parish, where he was a dedicated parishioner. I enjoyed Allen's readings he was an eloquent speaker and seemed to put a little bit of himself into the text. Allen set a very high standard for himself, which he worked at constantly, always helping others, giving of himself. Thank you for your service, my friend. RIP Allen
Dearest Elaine and Natalie,

I met Allen in elementary school and for the short time we spent together so long ago, I have so many fond memories that he figures prominently in. Brilliant yet humble, always kind and generous with a sense of humour that I could always count on to make me laugh out loud.
I was so happy to be able to catch up over the past couple of years. Natalie, your Dad was so proud of you, I could feel it every time we messaged.
I wish there were words to ease your pain. The world has lost one of the best people I have ever known.
Dear Elaine and Natalie,
Please accept my deepest condolences to you and your family. We have known Allen for over a decade through Elaine. Allen is kind, thoughtful, genuine and has a great sense of humour. He is always there to give me life advice or a warm hug when I need him. Allen has helped us babysit a couple times and my kids absolutely love him. He is also a wonderful father and an amazing husband.
Love,
Anny, Danny, Ian and Natalie
I am also very sorry for your loss. I first met Allen at a HREBA retreat in Edmonton several years ago. Had numerous lively discussions with him at these retreats, some quite humorous. As a fairly new member of HREBA’s Cancer Committee, I had been hoping to get advice from Allen as to ways to become a fully contributing community representative on the Committee. I will greatly miss him.
Jamie
Our heartfelt condolences to the entire family. We are fortunate to have known Allen through Elaine and enjoyed many family get togethers, chatting about his committee work in cancer research, latest movies and future travel plans. Allen was a wonderful person with a great sense of humour. We will always treasure the special times we spent together and the laughs we shared.
Love,
Christy and Patrick Gooi
Elaine I'm sorry to hear about your loss. My sincere condolences to you and your family. You and your family are in my prayers
Elaine and Natalie,
Please accept my deepest condolences to you and your family at this difficult time. I had the pleasure of working with Allen in his role as a business analyst at ALIA. How lucky I felt when Allen joined the team. Not only did he bring deep expertise to ALIA with his data analytics skills, but he could also make his highly technical area of expertise interesting and understandable for everyone – which was no small task! Despite working remotely, Allen quickly formed connections with his colleagues through his great sense of humor, fun “teams” backgrounds and his entertaining stories to go with them. Our weekly catch-up sessions always went longer than scheduled because we had so much to talk about, whether it was work, home repairs, restaurants to eat at or, of course, his family. He was so incredibly proud of both of you. I feel truly blessed that I had the opportunity to spend the past year working with Allen. His warm personality and ability to always bring a smile to his co-workers will be dearly missed. You are both in my thoughts and prayers. Yvonne Ladouceur
I am so very sorry to hear of Allen’s death. I worked with him during his time in Airdrie with the Highland primary care network.
I liked him from our first meeting and was very touched when he gently shared his Catholic faith with me . After he left the PCN we talked about getting together, to continue our friendship. As so often happens life sometimes gets in the way and we lost track. To the Dong family I will always have Allen in my prayers. My God bless you and comfort you in the days to come. Dr. John McSorley
Allen was a fellow HREBA board member (Health Research Ethics Board of Alberta – Cancer Committee) with me before I took on the Chair position. Pre-Covid, when we were still having HREBA Retreats, Allen would always come up from Calgary. He was committed to his role on the board but also looked for any chance he could find to build community. He enjoyed sharing a meal, coffee, or an anecdote – we had many engaging conversations.
He will be missed.
Dale Dewhurst
Friend and Chair of HREBA-CC
