Obituary of Allen Dong

February 14, 1967 – Thunder Bay, Ontario
November 14, 2021 –  Calgary, Alberta

Allen Richard Dong, beloved husband of Elaine Wong of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the age of 54 years.

Allen was born in Thunder Bay and spent many years in Toronto and Vancouver before moving to Calgary. Allen was a Professional Engineer and enjoyed his work at the Alberta Lawyers Indemnity Association (Law Society of Alberta). Allen and his family strongly believe in giving back and supporting our community; Allen volunteered with the Health Research Ethics Board of Alberta Cancer Committee performing ethical reviews and oversight over cancer and cancer-related research.  He was also passionate in supporting his faith and Church where he often was a Reader. Allen will be most remembered for his kindness and love; bringing joy to everyone that he met.

Besides his loving wife Elaine, Allen is survived by his daughter Natalie Dong of Calgary, AB, and currently studying in London, England. He is also survived by his parents Irene Cheng and Frank Dong of Vancouver, BC, brother Gregory Dong, and his sister and brother-in-law, Emily and Darrel Fung of Vancouver, BC.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. Those attending will be asked to confirm one of the following, (A) COVID vaccination (date requested), OR (B) a negative COVID test (within 72 hours), OR (C) Medical exemption AND valid government identification (with name & date of birth) OR (D) Under 12 years of age.

Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Dong’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
