Celebration of Life
Condolences
I am so very sad to hear belatedly of Beverly's passing. I had email contact with her regarding our connected family history and I was lucky enough to meet her in Greystones, Co. Wicklow when she visited my father, her cousin - Gerald Fallon. She was a lovely, interesting woman and very much a Webster in my Granny's tradition. My sincerest condolences to all the family - Rachel
So many memories - where to begin. For Ron & I, it began when Ron was transferred by Westinghouse to the Granby plant in 1958 and he lived with Bev’s Mom, Vi Webster until we married. We each had four children and eventually lived on the same street (a block away) which resulted in close interactions with one another with their four and our four. Bev was a wonderful host and we always looked forward to a party at their house. Who can forget her famous ‘cheese & onion pie’ or the delicious ‘crepes’. We had such fun times skiing at Glen Mountain - enjoying lunch in the sun on the side of ‘the trail’. We camped in PEI and visited with the Unsworth family at their cottage. Although eventually we were separated by thousands of miles, we stayed in touch. She moved to Calgary to be close to her family. She made sure she would be independent and got a job, a lovely condo and made good friends so as to not have to reply on her family to be her only source of companionship. We visited her in Calgary where she gave us tours of Calgary and other parts of Alberta - Drumheller was one memorable trip. She was a wise and carrying mother and a close friend and we will miss her.
Bev was a bright light in the World. She was a lovely woman; a great lady who had a kind and gentle soul. She made girl guides fun, and when she awarded badges it was so special because of her beautiful smile and smiling eyes. It was so wonderful to reconnect with her in Calgary at my sister Kari's house, and to hear about her many accomplishments and adventures after leaving Granby. I know she will be deeply missed by her family and close friends - my condolences everyone.
Bev Unsworrh was an amazing role model. I cannot forget Guide Camp and how I learned the importance of hard work and that women can be in leadership roles. I won’t tell you how we almost undermined her goal to become Guide Commissioner. She was firm and forgiving though . I loved having tthe chance to spend time with her since the move to Calgary and appreciated her generous spirit and sense of humour. Deepest condolences to the whole family.
My family home was but a few houses down from Bev and family.
Our family remembers Bev as a hardworking and dedicated mother. As well, my sister remembers her as a stylish and modern woman. I remember her well-deserved wrath when our teenage antics got out of hand.
Bev’s move to Calgary gave opportunity to reconnect, reminisce, and close the generational gap. Always the communication was hopeful for the future as was her nature. I will miss these conversational moments, her gentle teasing, and natural warmth.
Rest in peace Bev.
It was my pleasure to have enjoyed Beverley’s friendship over the years.
Raising our children in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, our daughter and Beverley’s son marrying and gifting us with two beautiful Granddaughters contribute to some of the beautiful memories of our friendship. The Riverboat Cruise to celebrate our 80th birthdays together was yet another great memory for me.
You will be sadly missed dear friend, Rest In Peace.
Love,
Charlotte Lightfoot
Beverley was the most lovely and happy person I ever had the pleasure of knowing. I met Beverley in 2003 in Calgary and we have been good friends ever since. We travelled together for many years throughout Western Canada and the USA. Mainly, to ride tourist trains. We did 13 and one more planned before she became ill. I will never forget her as she made my life complete. We were together up until 1 day before her passing. Goodbye sweet thing. I will always love and remember you.
Your friend forever, Larry Wener
