I worked a bit with Joe back in the Ambergris Caye, Belize days. He was fun and always a bright presence. I recall when he hired me to redecorate his rental apartment in anticipation of Merric moving to live with him. It had to be painted yellow and happy because she would like that ...... the bedroom was to be romantic and feminine for her ....... he was sensitive in a way a lot of "guys" just aren't. When he started expounding on some new business deal I'd usually get lost in the dialogue but would just sit back and go along for the ride because his enthusiasm and wit were worth the time. He made me laugh and laugh. My heart goes out to Merric and his four lovely daughters -- you were fortunate to have had him in your lives but he left far too soon.
