Obituary of Randall (Randy) Birks

Randall (Randy) Anthony Claude Birks, beloved husband of Kathryn, together for almost 40 years, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the age of 66 years. Randy was a native Calgarian, born on Saturday, December 18, 1954.  

Randy started his career as a teacher and enjoyed acting and amateur theatre before becoming a long-time oil and gas entrepreneur. Randy was a BBQ champion, competing in BBQ on the Bow for several years with his team, the Cowtown Smoke & Grillers. He was a life-long accomplished artist (of many mediums) and loved to travel, where he delighted in sketching his observed surroundings. Randy was also a long-time member of the Glenbow Lodge No. 184. 

Besides his loving wife, Randy is survived by his three daughters, Lauren (Aaron), Chelsea (Christine), and Alexis (Sean). He is also survived by his beloved granddaughter, Florence. Bruno, his cherished English bulldog, will dearly miss his morning carrots. 

A memorial BBQ will be held in Randy’s honour at a later date in the summer of 2022.
