Condolences
I met Gary at the KIMBERLEY trap & skeet club. We immediately hit it off. He has been a real good friend ever since, we kept in touch by phone and on trap shoots we attended together and the visits we had at the cabin with him and Elnore There is a big hole in our hearts and we will miss him. Our heartfelt condolences to Gary’s family and friends. Our hearts are deeply saddened.
Dear Elnore, David, Patrick and Families;
Please accept Heather and my sincere and deepest condolences.
Our hearts and prayers are with you at this very sad time. Garry was such a kind, generous and sincere gentleman (with a slightly wicked sense of humor).
We too will always miss him.
I (Rich) first met Garry in the mid-1990s when we were both working as geophysicists for Teknica and Teknica's client, AGOCO, in Benghazi, Libya. Our professional association through Teknica continued off and on, there and in Calgary, on various Libyan, Iranian, Latin American and other assignments for almost 10 years.
We also developed a rollicking, close friendship that sometimes included our wives (see photo); and was also marked by almost monthly, restaurant lunches where we 'swapped professional advice and industry stories (true and fabricated)'. These regular, business, 'gourmet events' were only terminated by the arrival in Calgary of Covid-19, in early 2020 (but sort of continued electronically, over the past 2+ years; a very poor, 'belt tightening substitute').
Losing a loved one always leaves a huge, aching void in our lives. But we hope that you all will (as we do now) find comfort, in recalling your happy memories of your Garry.
“God’s fingers touched him, and he slept”.
Tennyson: In Memoriam LXXXV.
We pray that you will be granted the strength and peace needed to get through this most difficult of times.
May God Bless and Protect you,
Rich, Heather and Family
I first crossed paths with Garry in Libya …. a lost and forlorn Englishman trying his hardest to find his way in a strange country. On the bus that drove us to the company, Garry was the first chap to come up to me and introduced himself. From that day forth we struck a life-long friendship. My wife and new born, Anastasia visited Garry and his family in Calgary in September 2008. Garry had not changed one iota…. thankfully ! I will always remember his incredible wit … he would always have people in stitches. For the man who named me “ Cousin Vinnie” a name that I use today with my nearest and dearest. You will always be forever in my thoughts, when I need strength and comfort I will think of you. God bless you Garry for the times we shared. Rest in Peace ……

Garry and I met up when we were both doing projects in Libya. It was always nice to have a friendly Calgary face to chat with about how our teams were doing and what we could do to make things better for all. Garry and I enjoyed working the BBQ together, at our villa, to feed the crew. Back here in Calgary, Garry, Al and I would meet-up for our Sunday morning brunch at 'Denny's'; talking mostly about family, friends and a host of other current events/topics.
Garry's smile and kind words will truly be missed and his absence will be noted. May you rest in peace my friend.
All Our Love Always

I first met Garry while working in Libya. When the situations occurred that dragged us down, Garry's often quoted, "Be strong".
Sharing a villa with him overseas, I learned he was well read on may subjects, and was deeply amused by his humor and favorites jokes. We often chose a country to explore for a few days after our work assignment was over.
My Mom sometimes said, "I think Garry has adopted you like a son", and was grateful for the trip to his cabin, and advise on condo repairs, Garry often showing up with a special tool from home to help supervise what I would do.
Taking the extra step just to be of service.
The last few years I started every morning by texting Garry something, often funny just to let him know I was okay. Lets just say he could be very creative in his response that topped any humor I had sent.
So I know he will be missed by family a lot, but I am also grateful for a friend who enriched my life daily.
Rest in peace with a life well done and shared with many.
