Condolences
Clearwater Lake will not be the same without Dot. I will miss her her company (and delicious scones). When I saw her this summer she was right up to date on all of the political issues of the day. She loved to listen to the news on the radio.
She was still a mom to us, worrying about how far out in the lake we were swimming, even as adults.
My condolences to everyone. She will be missed.
Aunt Dot was a special aunt who took me under her wing especially after my mom passed away. Lots of memories of playing cards with her at the lake. I was too young to go to the lake bar with the cousins and so Aunt Dot made sure I never felt left out and taught me how to play crib. My visits to Saskatoon each summer would involve a trip to the DQ walk up restaurant on 8th.
As I got older some of my favourite memories involved visiting at the cabin and watching Liam and Aunt Dot play a competitive game of ‘Touched You Last’ right before we would go back home. Both of them being so competitive… but Aunt Dot had the edge and touched Liam on the arm and went running back into the cabin and locked patio door so that Liam couldn’t get back at her and she just laughed and laughed behind that glass door.
I can hear my mom and Aunt Dot laughing away in heaven with their contagious laughter.
We will all miss Dorothy at the lake. She was a special lady.
My sincere condolences to the Hagarty family.
Over the past 20 years or so, I have had the pleasure of getting to know your family.
I wish you all love and comfort in this sad time.

My family was regularly hosted by Aunt Dorothy and her family at their home on Grosvenor Avenue in Saskatoon or at Clearwater Lake. My Mom’s anticipation at the opportunity to visit with her sister and her family during those trips was palpable and contagious. There was no shortage of food - in spite Colin and my efforts to sneak samples from the simmering pot of cabbage rolls ahead of the supper call. We always felt welcome and couldn’t wait for the next visit. Without reservation I can say that some of my most pleasant recalls of childhood involve Dorothy and her familly.
Over the years I’ve had the good fortune to see Dorothy often - in Rocky Mountain House at Deirdre and Dean’s or Calgary at Margot’s, the Deverou Family reunions and my favourite, the “cabin” at Clearwater Lake. One of my most cherished memories of her is the loving tribute she gave to her youngest sister (my Mom) in Broderick. My looking forward to seeing her has never waned. She was always engaging, witty, opinionated (bring up Stephen Harper - I dare you) and could give as good as she took. And I just can’t let this opportunity pass by without admiringly acknowledging her competitiveness.
I will miss my Aunt Dot.
