Obituary of Dorothy Ann Hagarty
May 4, 1928 – Broderick, Saskatchewan
December 14, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta
We are sad to announce the passing of our mom, Dorothy Ann Hagarty of Calgary, AB, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at the age of 93 years.
Dorothy was born on May 4, 1928, in Broderick, SK, and then moved to Saskatoon to do her schooling and attend Teacher’s College. She married Robert “Rab” Hagarty and they moved to Lucky Lake, SK, where they farmed for a number of years and started their family. They eventually moved to Saskatoon and there they raised their four children. Dorothy has lived in Calgary for many years and has enjoyed her time with family and spending her summers at Clearwater Lake, SK. Dorothy had a wonderful sense of humour, a love of nature and a strong faith. Her favourite things were reading a good book, playing cards, watching football and spending time at her cabin with family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Dorothy is survived by her four children Michael (Donna Lee), Margot, Colin (Marjorie), Deirdre (Dean); her seven grandchildren Jamie (Brandon), Jillian, Christopher, Kyrsten (Will), Rachel, Jessica, Maddison; and her five great grandchildren Addley, Vivian, Greyson, Liv, and Nash.
Dorothy was predeceased by her mother and father Katherine and Roy Deverou, her sisters Marie Deverou, Jean Hughes and Alvina Kent, and her former spouse Robert “Rab” Hagarty.
Funeral Services will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223-34th Street SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 31, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Those attending will be asked to provide valid government identification (with name and date of birth) AND confirm one of the following: (A)Provincial vaccine record with QR code (paper or digital); OR (B)negative COVID test (within 72 hours); or (C)valid medical exemption (signed letter); OR (D)under 12 years of age.
