Obituary of Frank Goldie

January 5, 1958 - December 19, 2021

 

Francis (Frank) MacDonald Goldie beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away suddenly in Calgary, AB.,on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at the age of 63 years.  

 

Frank was a life long Calgarian, growing up in Forest Lawn and raising his family and living out his retirement in the Marlborough Community. A loyal Calgary Flames fan, sports enthusiast and trivia master, Frank was a continual learning of all things interesting. Frank spent several summers as a leader of the Sea Cadets at the Army Cadet Camp in Vernon, BC.

 

Throughout Frank’s life, he was a support and participant in many organizations and activities; he was a drummer with Clan Maxwell, a volunteer with Special Olympics, a soccer coach, a member of a choir, a talented photographer and much, much more. 

 

At age 55, Frank retired from a 38-year career with Canada Post.  A passionate member of CUPW, Frank was a support for his fellow workers, including walking the picket lines throughout his career and in his retirement.

 

A curious explorer, Frank was an avid traveller who embraced the culture and history wherever he went.  Frank was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  Supporting the interests of others, his love and attention landed with Deanna and his family. Frank will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.

 

Leaving to mourn his loss are his loving wife Deanna (nee Sirr) Goldie, daughter Jennifer (Duncan) McGregor, his sons Frank (Amanda) Goldie, and Ian (Victoria) Goldie; and grandchildren, Blake, Ayla, and Alyssa; sister Sandra, brothers Charlie (Marion), Gerald (Don), and John (Marieke); along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

 

Frank was predeceased by his parents Francis Goldie and Christine (nee MacDonald) Goldie; and daughter Jamie Goldie.

 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Those attending will be asked to provide valid government identification (with name and date of birth) AND confirm one of the following: (A)Provincial vaccine record with QR code (paper or digital); OR (B)negative COVID test (within 72 hours); or (C)valid medical exemption (signed letter); OR (D)under 12 years of age.  Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
