Condolences
Dear Alice and Lorentz family,
We have had the honour of knowing Jim for 50 years when he was married to our sister Alice. They were the happiest couple you could ever meet. They were made for each other!
Jim was always honest and true to his beliefs. He did love to tease and joke, but he was always a gentleman. Jim also loved to fish, and grow their vegetable garden. It has been said that you "can't grow tomatoes in Calgary", but Jim could.
Once Jim trusted you, you were always welcome at his door. He and Alice never wanted to owe anyone anything, but if they ever allowed you to be even somewhat generous, they would repay you to the dollar or in kind. They were cherished in their neighbourhood.
And, he loved Alice. They travelled a lot, generally by car. Vegas, Reno, Kimberley, countless trips to Saskatchewan, Medicine Hat and Ponoka. Although Jim had unlimited travel by CN rail, they loved to be independent.
Jim took great care of his family, their home, and their vehicles. As a couple they never lived beyond their means, but took a quiet pride in who they were and their high standards of self care and mutual respect.
When we lived in Calgary, we visited back and forth. Julian loved to watch hockey with Jim as the Oilers and Flames battled it out. Jim was a fan of both teams, and he respected fairness and honesty, not only in sports but in life.
What is not to respect in a man like Jim, with good judgment and sense of humour, and thoughtful, kind nature.
He is, and will be, missed.
Our deepest and sincerest condolences,
and a huge thank-you on behalf of the Rodney family to Gary, Jane, and Bev for being there for Alice through this overwhelmingly difficult time.

Alice -I was so saddened to read of Jim’s passing. I know we have lost touch for a few years but have many happy memories- he and Donnie could get into mischief. And many a great New Year’s Eve party with Red and Freda. It will be a difficult New Year for you but remember the good times, Getting to be 94 was quite an accomplishment!
My condolences

We are so sorry to hear about Uncle Jim. Whenever I would come visit I would have a little tear because Uncle Jim reminded me of my dad. So gentle and soft spoken. I hope a little comfort comes to you that his family is there waiting for him to play some pool and have plenty of cream chicken, German potatoes salad and kuga.
We love you,
Carla, David, Daniel (Charlene) and Connor
Our heartfelt condolences on you loss Alice.
We will all miss him. Fondness memories of him were when he lived with mom and he would always get me into trouble. He would stick his tongue out first at me.
Always liked to tease me. When ever we talked we loved to remember the good times with family.
Miss you.
Love Alice & Roger Dadey
Aunt Alice, may the Lord hold you gently in His Hands today and all of the tomorrows to come. We will miss Uncle Jim’s smile, laugh, and words of wisdom.

We have so many thoughts and feelings when thinking about Jim over the many years. We were looking at your wedding photo this weekend. But perhaps my favourite image is of us brothers together in the wheat field – Matt, Jim and Joe – brothers in arms with a lifetime of excitement to experience. Alice, we are sending our heartfelt sympathy and also including smiles with our tears. Love from, Joe and Christina
We're thinking of you Alice, Garry, Jane and families. It is with deep sadness that we offer our sincere condolences to each of you from Jim’s passing. May your memories offset tears with the times when laughs and smiles meant the most, throughout the years. He is a beloved husband, brother and uncle. With love, Darryl and Dixie
