Obituary of Michael 'Mike' McGuire

August 13, 1948 - Amherst, Nova Scotia
December 26, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Michael McGuire, beloved husband Bonnie McGuire (nee McKeague), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at the age of 73 years.

Michael was born in Amherst, NS on August 13, 1948.

Mike worked as a licenced security guard with Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation (CSEC). He enjoyed his work and loved the social aspect of connecting with his coworkers. He was very proud to work at CSEC and was a mentor and dear friend to all. Prior to his role with CSEC, Mike spent many years working as a professional in the printing industry.

Mike was an avid reader of murder mysteries and spy novels, often reading 2-3 books at time. He absolutely loved his poker club and, most importantly, the dear friendships he had within the club. Mike was a huge music lover and would occasionally be found sitting by himself, headphones on, listening to his favourite music and exploring new artists. Mike loved watching all sports; everything from hockey, football to curling, if it was on TV, Mike was watching it. He spoke proudly of the years he played football in Quebec and, for many years, participated in curling bonspiels in Alberta.

Mike will most be remembered for his ability to make all he met feel loved, accepted, and cared for.

Besides his loving wife, Michael is survived by his son Christopher McGuire of Calgary, AB and daughter Mary McGuire (Cathy Reed) of Sherwood Park, AB; grandchild Madisyn Henderson-McGuire, Langdon, AB ; and his siblings Anna-Marie Cameron of Cambridge-Narrows, NB, James McGuire (Carolyn McGuire) of Fredericton, NB, Patti Tremblay (Jacques Tremblay)of Sexsmith, AB, and Patrick McGuire (Kelly McGuire) of Fredericton, NB .

Michael was predeceased by parents, Gloria White McGuire and John McGuire.
