Obituary of Michael Clint Tamayo

August 30, 1975 – Montreal, Quebec

Michael Tamayo, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021, at the age of 46 years.

Michael was born in Montreal and moved to Calgary in 1979 at the age of four years.  He graduated from Father Lacombe High School and then moved to British Columbia where he earned a diploma in Costuming for the Stage and Screen from Capilano University.  He worked in the film industry in Vancouver, BC. Michael had a passion for fashion; his nickname was Mea and was known as Michael Fashionista. 

Michael is survived by his mother Paz, his brother Jonathan and his Aunt Phoebe Carantes. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as numerous extended family and friends. Michael was predeceased by his father, Alfredo Tamayo Jr. in 2014.   

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Those attending will be asked to provide valid government identification (with name and date of birth) AND confirm one of the following: (A)Provincial vaccine record with QR code (paper or digital); OR (B)negative COVID test (within 72 hours); or (C)valid medical exemption (signed letter); OR (D)under 12 years of age.  Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Michael’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
