Condolences
Corey and Pauline,
So sorry hear the news. We did not see the announcement at the time, but we received your New Year's letter this week and saw the news there. What a tough year, and a tough start to 2022. Our thoughts are with you all.
Corey, I have fond memories of your Mom. She was always smiling whenever I arrived at your house and unloaded my drum kit into your basement....despite that fact that she knew exactly how much noise would soon follow. She was always welcoming and extremely supportive of our jam sessions, and I recall many good conversations with her. I still don't know how the birds managed to stay sane in the living room when we were downstairs making such a racket, so maybe she had her hands full managing them when we were doing our thing. Who knows....
I am sure you miss her terribly. Stay well.
Glen
Linda and I are saddened to learn of Aunt Jolan's passing. We fondly remember the time we visited Jolan and Johnny at their home in Calgary.
I’m sorry to hear of Jolan’s passing. I first met Jolan while working at Sam Livingston School and later enjoyed our short visits in her garden while I was walking in Haysboro. I always think about Jolan when I pass the family home.
We are sad at being unable to join the family in celebrating Grandma/Jolan's life. We have wonderful memories of her fun loving spirit. On her visits here, I remember how much she would play with our boys as young children. Her suitcase was always full of books she would find at Benny the Bookworm. We have fond memories of Boxing day dinners followed by game night. It's curious, the things one remembers about someone as a young child. Our boys remember babybell cheese, picking up pinecones in her backyard, many meals of delicious homemade perogies, and visiting with her while she had her morning coffee and bagel. January 10 will always be remembered particularly by Nolan, who shares his birthday with his Grandma. We had many enjoyable trips to Drumheller and lunches at Peters'. Jolan truly had a wish to live her life to the fullest and sought to accomplish all she desired. We will miss her. In particular we hold Corey, Donna and Gary in our thoughts as you move through this chapter in your mom's rich life.
Pauline, Ryan, Evan & Nolan
Jolan was my aunt. I wish I had known her better. My mother, Beulah is Jolan's sister & she will be heart broken when I tell her of Jolan's passing. May she rest in peace. On behalf of my mother & the Shank family, our sincere condolences.
I remember Jolan with such fondness. I was a teacher at Sam Livingston School and attended many year end parties at her home. She was such a gracious hostess and, as mentioned, her yard was impeccable and gorgeous. I am truly sorry for the loss to her children and grandchildren. Cherish those heart warming and lovely memories. May she rest in peace.
Corey, Gary, Donna and family. So sad to hear about the passing of your mother. We had many fond memories of us cousins, (we the Haarstads, our mom was a sister to John Mack) aunts and uncles spending time at Christmas, running through the house, up and down the stairs, eating her delicious baking, enjoying Auntie Jolan's birds and admiring her yard, which now as an adult I know how much time and care and love it took to care for it. I know she will be missed. Rod and Diane Haarstad and family, Tom and Wendy Clark and family, Greg Haarstad
Mrs. Mack was a second Mother to me and an incredibly generous and kind Lady. I will miss her very very much. My condolences to all her Family especially Cory, Donna and Gary. My heart and prayers go out to them in this difficult time. I am however comforted by the fact that she is finally reunited with her Husband, John and that one day we will all be together again.
Rest in Peace, Mom.
