Condolences
I have known Walter for what seems forever. We first met in Holland just when ww2 started. We managed to get together off and on in the following years. Wally and his mom emigrated to Canada a few years after I arrived. We both lived in Toronto for awhile and he joined the 48th highlanders. He persuaded me to join as well. We both decided to move to Calgary. Wally managed to get a job with a seismic crew working out of pincher creek. We often hiked and camped. Wally was a real outdoorsman. Eventually he moved to Denver, USA where he met and married Anne. All good memories.
He will be missed.
Wally loved life and food was one of his joys, especially chocolates and cheeses but really anything rich. I so well remember him telling me how he loved roast beef with Yorkshire pudding so I made a traditional meal, as my mother had done, with mashed potatoes, lots of gravy and a loaded muffin pan of puffy Yorkshires. Well Anne and I managed one or two puddings each but I don't believe there was one of the dozen left by the end of our dinner for three. And Wally was a happy camper!
