Obituary of Patricia Julia Thompson

October 16, 1934 - Chatham, Ontario

January 24, 2022 – Airdrie, Alberta

Patricia Thompson (nee Hanusczek), of Airdrie, AB, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, at the age of 87 years.

Patricia was born in Chatham, ON, on October 16, 1934. She enjoyed her music, knitting, growing plants and flowers, and her extensive elephant collection she acquired over the years.  Throughout her life, Patricia loved having the company of her many pets.  She was a woman of great faith.

Patricia was predeceased by Tom, her loving husband of forty-six years and her brother Tom Hansom.

Patricia is survived by her four children:  daughter Terri McCartney, son Chris and wife Donna Thompson, son Tim and wife Karen Thompson, and son David and wife Stephanie Thompson.  She is also survived by four grandchildren:  Christopher McCartney, Shauna McCartney, Kristin and husband Andrew Cardillo, Nikolas Thompson, and four great-grandchildren:   Daniel, James, Asher, and CJ Cardillo.  Lovingly remembered by her surviving sister, Pauline Kelso of Carlsbad, CA, USA; as well as a wealth of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Airdrie, 300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, AB) on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul’s Catholic Church (1305 Main Street, Airdrie, AB) on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at start time 11:00 a.m.  Those attending will be asked to provide valid government identification (with name and date of birth) AND confirm one of the following: (A)Provincial vaccine record with QR code (paper or digital); OR (B)negative COVID test (within 72 hours); or (C)valid medical exemption (signed letter); OR (D)under 12 years of age.  Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.

The family would like to sincerely thank the medical team at Peter Lougheed Hospital, Unit 51, and the staff at Cedarwood Station for all the kindness they showed to Patricia.
