Obituary of Gertie Simmons

June 18, 1930 – Halifax, Nova Scotia
January 25, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mom, Gertrude Simmons on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the age of 91 years.

Gertrude was born in Halifax, NS and moved to Calgary in 1993 to be closer to her girls and grandchildren.

She leaves behind two daughters, Darlene (Joel) Bell and Sherry (Dave) Philpott; and three grandchildren, Caitlin Bell (Dennis), Sarah Philpott (Connor), and Davie Philpott (Breila). She was predeceased by her husband, Roger Simmons.

We gratefully acknowledge our dear cousin Marilyn who joined us over the past few years to help with Mom’s care. Marilyn’s compassion, along with Sanja, and the other amazing Doctors, nurses and caregivers at the Heart Failure Clinic, extended Mom’s life longer than we could have imagined. Mom lived in gratitude every day and all who knew her, felt her love. That is what we will miss the most.
