Condolences
We are so very sorry to hear of Greg’s passing. I have known Greg since our St. Francis Elementary School days in Halifax and then onto St .Pat’s High where my husband Frank met Greg. From there we went our separate ways until meeting up in Calgary for a few years in the late 1970’s. At that time Greg was still the sports car, fast car enthusiast who also enjoyed a good debate. Greg and Frank would pick a topic for discussion with each on a different side just for the sake of a heated discussion……belief in a particular side was not of importance…… only who could get the most points across. Greg once described this to me as “sharpening the brain”.
Again our paths separated until 4 years ago when we were all wintering in AZ and he dropped in for a visit. Who else would drive 3 hours each way in one day just for lunch? Still into sports cars we heard him arrive before we saw him. So Greg like!
We send our deepest sympathy to Ellie, their 2 sons and daughter, grandchildren, four sisters, extended family and friends. A life lost too soon…RIP Greg.
I was sorry to read of Greg’s passing. My sincerest condolences to you Kathy and your family. Jackie Dunsworth
Patrick, Christine and Andrew,
We are so sad to hear of the passing of your father. Growing up, we enjoyed our visits with your dad - he really knew how to tell a good story and we loved to hear about his car collection. May your memories bring you peace and comfort in the days to come.
Your LeClair relatives
Greg was a working associate of mine at Imperial Oil and helped me many times with my car maintenance. He was certainly a "car guy" and although we lost touch over the years I'm sorry to hear of his passing. My sympathies to his family.

Sorry to hear of Gregory’s passing. I always remember his love of cars and racing them as well . When he would come to Cape Breton in the early years, I was in awe of him and his car racing. Even tho we weren’t in touch, he was a Big guy in my heart. My condolences to his children, grandchildren and of course, his sisters. Rest well Greg, the eldest of us “double forest cousins”
Margaret Tompkins Kulchyckyj,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss.
I personally did not know my cousin Greg, but I did know his father and grandfather, many years ago, as I am 92 years old and the last from the Mike- Jack Tompkins line, from Margaree Forks.
God Bless
So sorry to hear of Gregory's passing. Although we have not seen much of one another since his move out west we kept tabs on one another. I was very pleased to reconnect at Uncle Greg's 90th birthday celebration. As he and I we among the few Tompkins men in a sea of sisters he will be missed. My condolences to his sisters and children.
Sorry to hear of Greg’s passing. I am a distant cousin and graduated from TUNS the same year as Greg. Jim Tompkins
I went to school with Greg at St. Francis elementary and St. Patrick’s High in Halifax in the 1950s and 60s. While our lives took different paths, he is woven into the fabric of my fondest memories of those times of so long ago. I knew back then Greg would enjoy a rewarding and successful life; and earn the love respect of those who got to know him. To his family; please accept condolences from an old mate of his from the distant past.

Sorry to lose Greg. He was forthright and accepted life as it happened. He was a good man who had no trouble seeing through a situation clearly. He spoke the the truth as he knew it without reservation. I was fortunate to have Greg as a true friend through high school, university and well beyond. We travelled together rallied and raced cars together and helped each other so many times. I missed being near him these past years as geography limited our contact.
I wish you peace and rest from cancer and all of life's ordinary challenges my friend - I'll never forget you.
Deepest sympathy to Greg's family including his four sisters and extended families. My sister, Margaret H. LeBlanc, and I met some of you at your Dad's funeral in Chester, NS, a few years ago. We are distant cousins in that our paternal grandmother was Maggie Tompkins, sister to old Dr. Greg of Glace Bay - your grandfather.
I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Greg. I was a friend of his in grade school and high school at St. Pat’s in Halifax. We were at N. S. Tech at the same time. His first wife Eli was a good friend of my wife in college. My wife and I wish to offer our condolences to the family. He will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren.
I am a cousin- Barbara Tompkins Maclellan from Margaree but live in Port Hood N.S. . I am so sorry for your loss. Greg used to come to Aunt Roses and then up to Greg Tompkins to play as kids on the farm . Time flies but I remember the good times. Condolences and may he be granted Eternal Rest.
