Norma Lewis of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022, at the age of 89 years.
Norma was born in Calgary, AB on August 10, 1932. She worked as a secretary, stenographer with Alberta Wheat Pool and C.P. Rail where she met her husband, Danny Lewis.
Norma lived and loved with a simple grace. She was a steadfast loving wife to Danny, who passed away in 2001. Some of her best years were spent with Danny during retirement with trips to Mesa, Kelowna and Vancouver. She was a nurturing kind Mom to Vaughn, Daniel and Kathi. Norma was a loving, kind, and supportive Nannie to her granddaughters Stephanie, Vanessa, Brianna, Natalka, and Lyndsay. She enjoyed watching her granddaughters dance and play soccer. She babysat them with joy. Norma was such a proud great-grandmother to her six great-grandchildren. Norma had a passion for sewing, knitting, crafts, and swimming.
Norma is survived by her son, Vaughn (Betty) Lewis of Duncan, BC, daughter Kathi Weir (Martin Curtis) of Kelowna, BC and Calgary, AB, and son Daniel (Heather) Lewis of Vancouver, BC; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Mark) Knowler of Calgary, AB, Vanessa (Matt) Wright of Calgary, AB, Brianna Weir (Ben Bleackely) of Gibsons, BC, Natalka (Nat) Lewis (Matt Blais) of Calgary, AB, and Lyndsay Weir (Tyler Bragg) of Calgary, AB; six great-grandchildren, Cohen, Quincy, Stella and Oakley Knowler, Brixton and Ronan Wright; sister Margaret Robson of Chilliwack, BC, and brother Doug (Barb) Thorne of Fairmount Hot Springs, BC.
Norma was predeceased by her loving husband Danny Lewis; parents, Jack and Clara Thorne; and sister Jacqueline Thorne.
A memorial tribute and reception will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on May 27, 2022 starting at 2:00pm. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
