Obituary of Vicki Lee Green

March 11, 1958 - Medicine Hat, Alberta

February 13, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Vicki Green of Calgary passed away quietly at her mother’s home on Sunday February 13, 2022, at the age of 63 years.

Vicki was born to Ed and Carolee White in Medicine Hat, AB on March 11, 1958.  She was the third of four children who grew up in Pincher Creek, AB.  She moved to Moose Jaw, SK after high school, where she met and later married her former husband, Philip Green in 1982 in Honolulu, Hawaii.   They moved to Kamloops, BC where she started her career with the Bank of Nova Scotia. This is also where they had their only child, their daughter Janet.  Vicki later became a manager with the bank in Kamloops and subsequently in Salmon Arm where she eventually retired and moved to her beautiful home at Sunnybrae on Shuswap Lake.

Volunteerism was an important component in Vicki’s life.  During the 1990s fires in the Okanagan area, she devoted numerous hours of fundraising and support for the victims of the fires.  She also worked closely supporting and mentoring citizens with substance abuse. Vicki joined the board of directors at the Sunnybrae Community Association in 2012, working as Treasurer as well as taking care of hall rentals until 2019. During this time the hall saw a wealth of community gatherings throughout the year, and she also played an integral role in securing the funds to carry out two major renovations to the community hall. This came through not only bookwork but through continuous volunteer planning of fundraising events: a role she stepped forward into with passion and enthusiasm. Whether it was the annual Cabaret Dance or the Halloween together you could always count on Vicki being there in her creative attire, equipped with unplanned props she'd donate just to add that special touch! Even with the organizer hat off Vicki would regularly attend other events such as the Sunnybrae Coffeehouse and would wholeheartedly support the local musicians and other initiatives happening in the area. It was plain for all to see that Community was important to her and giving, supporting, and enriching that Community with her love and volunteerism was a much-enjoyed part of her life.”  In September 2020 Vicki moved to Calgary and resided with her mother Carolee.

Vicki is survived by her mother Carolee (Cee Cee) White, daughter Janet Green and partner Patrick Coughlan; and grandchildren, Heidi and Daisy Schulz.  She is also survived by sisters, Lori Talerico of Salmon Arm, BC, Susan White of Beaver Mines, AB, her brother and sister-in-law Ed and Nancy White of Olds, AB; seven nieces and nephews, Jason Lagrandeur and children Nia and Willow, Jennifer Talerico and Reid Kennedy and family, Juli-Ann Talerico and Danny Manson and family, Brooke Bonertz, Jayna and Keith Adair and family, Sabrina and Riley McGibney and Tanner White;  and by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins, in particular her sister-aunt Julie Crump in Cold Lake, AB.

Vicki was predeceased by her father William Edmund White in 1989.
