Obituary of John Brian Tropak

February 13, 1954 – Winnipeg, Manitoba
February 21, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

John Tropak beloved husband of Silke Tropak passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at the age of 68 years.

John was born in Winnipeg, MB on February 13, 1954. John graduated from St. John’s High School and went on to have successful career as the legendary owner and operator of the Video Cellar in Winnipeg. He moved to Calgary, AB in 2015. John was a dedicated volunteer with the conservative party for many years, and successfully managed election campaigns in provincial, federal, and municipal elections. John accomplished much through his life in business and politics.

John had a passion for golf, motorcycles, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and rock 'n roll music, which he enjoyed with his many friends and family members. John very much enjoyed his yearly golf trips with the guys, San Diego with Silke, and had fond memories of the two Disneyland trips with the boys. He was particularly proud of his sons and grandchildren.

Besides his wife Silke, John is survived by his two sons, Nick and Joe; daughters-in-law, Alicia and Yeori; and grandchildren, Anna, Jack and Lily. He really enjoyed visiting and dinners with his family here in Calgary. John was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth, father John, and dear brother Robert whom he was very close with right up to the time of his passing.

We would like to thank all our family and friends for the love and support through these difficult times, and the staff of Foothills Medical Centre for their dedicated care and compassion to John over the past three weeks.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 in a private ceremony. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
