Condolences
Our deepest sympathy to Alan’s Families.
Alan worked In Lethbridge for many years. When Alan left Lethbridge it was certainly Lethbridge’s loss and Calgary’s gain. He was one of the best reporters and supporters of amateur sports. He covered all sports in Lethbridge, especially the Men’s and Ladies fastball Leagues, Minor Softball, Minor Hockey and the Lethbridge Saints Women’s Hockey team. He was a great supporter of Female sports long before anyone else would cover it. We were so very thankful for all the time and interest he took to all Lethbridge Sports. He was the voice of the Lethbridge Broncos. What a beautiful tribute at his service. God Bless you Alan, and thank you very much for all your support and friendship in Sports.

Arron, we are so sorry, shocked and sad to hear the passing of your Dad. Allen was just the best, a very kind and gentle man. We had many a conversation at the garage door when he was out for his daily walk!!!! Keeping us updated on the family and Grandkids with such pride and love. The street just won't be the same. Thinking of you at this time of sorrow.
Saying Goodbye to an amazing Writer-Producer...I had the privilege of working with Al Bell for a good long time at CTV-CFCN Television in Calgary. Al was an excellent news writer. He crafted a news program like a good novel. He totally loved his job including making sure the 6pm show was complete, missed nothing and went to air as written. Al helped shepherd the then "new" hour long news program to its enviable position…number one in the Calgary Market. Al was supportive of me and everyone else in the newsroom. He was an all round wonderfully talented good man. I really liked him and realised working alongside him for about two decades was a privilege. Thanks for everything Al... the show has been put to bed...time to rest easy my friend..Well done..…I will never forget you.
We send our deepest condolences to your family Great Uncle Alan.
Though we will not be in attendance, we will certainly watch the live stream.

Arran -- I was so sorry to hear about your dad's passing. Loosing a dad at such a young age is hard. I'm not sure if you know this but Al played a big role in making CFCN's supper news (now CTV Calgary) the success that it is today. He and I worked together to move the 6 p.m. newscast from a half hour to an hour with a double anchor -- Darrel Janz and Michelle Hogan. We did that in September of 1985. His writing skills and news judgement set a high bar for those who followed.
I am very sorry to hear of Alan’s passing. Alan was always so kind and generous with his time and knowledge. In the 7 years I was fortunate to work alongside him, he taught me so much about writing and producing, and just life, that I still remember and use to this day. I am thinking of your family at this difficult time.
I remember Alan as a kind, hardworking and passionate newsman who believed in me when not everyone else did. For that I will be forever grateful. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Thank you for your important contributions to our world and may you rest in peace, Alan.
Al, I learned a lot from you in the control room while directing the 6pm news. I appreciated all your help over the years, and all the the great laughs! Graham
I'm happy I had the opportunity to meet and work with you on so many shows Al, you were always ready to help and such a truly nice man - you'll be missed. Sending healing thoughts to your family, Nujma
It was a pleasure working with Alan at CTV Calgary, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.
From my first day on the job in the CFCN newsroom, Alan quickly became a friend, and a mentor. He was a terrific talent with a tremendous work ethic. Such a great guy away from the office, too. My condolences to Alan’s family.
