Edward (Ed) Peebles

Obituary of Edward (Ed) Roger Peebles

December 19, 1952 - March 4, 2022

Edward (Ed) Peebles of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022, at the age of 69 years.

Edward was born in Elnora, AB, on December 19, 1952, to Verna and Malcolm (Mac) Peebles. He graduated from both Crescent Heights High School and Athabasca University. He was a proud member of the Alberta Pioneer Auto Club and volunteered with the Bridgeland-Riverside Community Association (BRCA) for many years. Ed was a dedicated Philatelist and Numismatics. He had a deep love for antique cars and photography. Having an eye for the past, he was always collecting items of value and interest. Edward enjoyed politics at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels and he had an enthusiasm for keeping up with current events. He loved any kind of electronic gadget or gizmo, and enjoyed the challenge of chess.

Ed had some wonderful vacations over the years; there were many summers in BC with family, Hawaii with his youngest brother Doug, and Tennessee. Most recently a very special gold-mining expedition with family and friends. He will be remembered most for his determination, stubbornness, and amazing sense of humour.

Edward is survived by his mother, Verna Peebles, two sisters Cynthia (Conrad) Guibord of Ontario and Karen Peebles of Calgary, AB; and Red, his favourite little red poodle. Edward is also survived by two nieces, Amy (Mathew) Vercleyen and Denielle Hetchler (Zachary Harris) both of Calgary, AB; two nephews, Tyler Hetchler (Danyelle Welch) of Cochrane, AB, and Joshua Hetchler of Calgary, AB; and five great-nieces, Piper and Isabelle Vercleyen of Calgary, AB, and Fae, Nyx, and Eve Hetchler of Cochrane, AB, as well as many well-loved cousins and friends.

Edward was predeceased by his father Malcom (Mac) Peebles, and two brothers, Fredrick and Douglas Peebles.
