Condolences
So many years ago Lorna and Don extended hospitality in their home to Bob (deceased) and myself. Lorna had a special gift of making all feel welcome. Condolences to you and your family Don.
Gosh darn it!! Mrs Buie was one of the first teachers I met at DMG. She was so welcoming and kind (to both my husband just starting his career & me), she had the biggest heart, and had the best smile/laugh, we had many good visits! When she learned my husband & I were expecting - she made our daughter a beautiful quilt we will always cherish! She will be dearly missed, Heaven definitely gained an angel. I’m sorry we were unable to come to the funeral - sending love to her family!
Mrs. Buie had such a beautiful and full laugh that filled the space she was in. We were so fortunate to have her welcome such boisterous and silly teenagers into the warm home she and Mr. Buie created. She spent so much time guiding us in our crafting endeavours; evenings full of glue guns, glitter and laughter. Mrs. Buie’s baking was such a treat and always so generously put out. Many a “to go bag” was tucked in my purse, at her insistence. She will be remembered fondly. Hugs to Mr. Buie, Ken, Steven and Cathy.
Dear Don and family - we are very saddened to hear of Lorna’s passing. She was certainly a very kind and genuine lady. We were fortunate to enjoy those famous Buie Stampede breakfasts for many years. We are thinking of all her family and may her memory be a blessing to you all.
Love

Dear Don & family: Lorna will be missed by us and our family. We have so many wonderful memories of her that go back over 50 years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Love Margaret & Ed
The smocked dress that Lorna made for my daughter Dawn over 50 years ago has been worn by nieces, granddaughters and dolls. It is waiting for a great granddaughter to wear it. Lorna was such a talented woman. I had lost touch, but I'm glad I saw this notice.

Sorry to hear the passing of Lorna. We were neighbours. Always pleasant and charming. Our prayers to The family. JoAnne and Bob Wilkins.
Our family's sincere condolences to Don and the family. All four of our children were blessed to have the best kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Buie! Lorna really understood how to connect with and meet the needs of different personalities, children and adults alike. Lorna seemed to delight in her work, was a clear communicator who was exceedingly organized, offered a huge variety of educational activities, had an outfit for every occasion of the school year, and remembered each student for decades after. Lorna's kindly, happy personality blessed many, many lives. She was talented as a seamstress extraordinaire and a true people person. Lorna loved her husband, and adored their children and grandchildren! She always had a smile and a story to share about their activities or interests. Lorna was a wonderful example to us all. Thank you for sharing her with our community. We will indeed miss her too.
• To the family: We send our deepest condolences for the passing of Lorna. Our mothers are with us always. We pray that your heart and soul will find peace and comfort during this difficult time.

I had the pleasure of meeting Lorna with her passion of quilting.
During COVID a group of us would meet in my back yard to share our passion.
Lorna loved to kick off her shoes and feel the grass between her toes.
She will be dearly missed in the quilting world.
When you wrap yourself in a quilt made by Lorna not only is she providing you with warmth and comfort but she is also wrapping her arms around you. Cherish in those memories and know that she is only a warm snuggle away.
I am so saddened to hear of Lorna's passing. We worked together closely at Morris Gibson. We had so much fun together and spent lots of time chatting about our work and our families. Lorna was such a vibrant person! I learned so much from her. Thinking about Lorna brings a smile to my face. I will treasure her memory. My sympathy to Don and the rest of her family.
Mrs. Buie taught me in 1977. She was my first teacher for formal school learning and was one of my favourite people. I believe her influence helped guide me into childcare. Her patience with stubborn students showed us all patience to take with us into life. Thanks for everything Mrs. Buie.
Mrs Buie was my kindergarten teacher in 1988, it was the best year...zoo trips, stories, the Olympics, the year end bbq at her farm. She was a wonderful human and I am so happy to have had her in my life. She will be greatly missed, I am thankful for the memories. Condolences to Lornas family.
My condolences to the family. I had a lot of great teachers over the years, but despite being the very first, Mrs. Buie was one of my absolute favourites and one one of the most memorable. I have very strong recollections of being in her class back in 1983 & 1984 - it was the class so nice, I did it twice. On Mrs. Buie's recommendation, I was held back a year in Kindergarden, and honestly, I credit that decision with a lot of my successes later in life. That extra year in age and maturity gave me an advantage amongst my peers, and helped me be both a leader and positive influence through my school years that translates to this day.
Thanks, Mrs. Buie, for being a part of my life. You will be missed.
My deepest heartfelt condolences to all involved.
Mrs Buie was my kindergarten teacher back in about 1980. As a little tiny human…I loved her!. I’m certain all my peers at the time felt the same. What a special memory. All though it’s been a lifetime since I saw her, she always kept a significant part of my heart! R.I.P.
