She also cherished her grandnieces and grandnephews:  Jo, Carlen, Ariah, London, Sonoma, and Henderson.

A fifth generation Californian, Diane and her family moved to a cattle ranch in the Cochrane area in 1971. Di was the valedictorian of her Cochrane High School graduating class in 1972, and then went to St. Lawrence University in New York state. She graduated with a B.A in French and Linguistics. After moving to Montreal, QC Di obtained a diploma in programming technology from Control Data Institute. She worked for CAE Inc. and Monenco in Montreal, QC. She transferred to Calgary, AB with Monenco, where she worked on the Husky Lloydminster upgrader project and did contract work for TransAlta Utilities. Diane later obtained a CAPPA certificate in Petroleum Production accounting from Mount Royal University and worked for Bowood Energy and Hyperion Exploration as a Production Accountant.

Diane loved to read, go to movies, do crossword puzzles, watch PBS programs, and go for long walks. She was adept at languages and spoke French, Spanish and Russian. She volunteered as an interpreter for the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, translating for the Russian Cross Country/Nordic Ski team. She dabbled in painting and weaving. Using her accounting skills, she volunteered as Treasurer for several different organizations.

Diane was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on February 22, 2022. The disease progressed rapidly, and it was often difficult to process the changes that were occurring. Special thanks to Dr. Soriano, the staff of Unit 47 at the Tom Baker Cancer Center, and the wonderful staff at the Agape Hospice for their compassionate care.
