Diane's friendship was a treasured one from college days. My roommate (LuAnne) and I had the good fortune to have Diane as our neighbor in the dorm. I thought Diane was so brave to transfer to St. Lawrence as a sophomore, coming all the way from Calgary and knowing no one at the school other than her brother. Diane, Lu and I soon became the three musketeers, eating all our meals together and discussing all the momentous events of the day. She was so smart and funny, and was never at a loss for words. Dinners were always hilarious occasions with Diane's observations. The unkept male student who found his way to our dinner table would later be described by Diane as "moldy, shaggy and icky fuzz on his face!" Hockey players, on the other hand, were always welcome, if we were ever lucky enough to spot one! Diane was the only one who had a car, so with her wheels we could go anywhere! I have fond memories of our trip to Montreal in her little VW bug.
In 2016, we reconnected at St. Lawrence for our 40th reunion. Diane flew in from Calgary and we had such fun being together again. It was as if we never left. More recently, we had been talking about getting together in Calgary, so Diane could give us the complete tour. The last two times I spoke to her when she was in the hospital, her one concern was that she was messing up our plans.
I will miss Diane's laughter, her smile, and her quick wit. I never spoke to Diane that she didn't give me updates on everyone in her family. She loved to troll Facebook so that she was current on what each of her nieces and nephews were up to. Her family meant the world to her and they have been wonderful in taking care of her. To them, I send my deepest condolences. We can rejoice that Diane is reunited with her beloved Mom and Dad, that she lived her life exactly as she wanted to, and that she is at peace.
With all my love,
Sally Logan
