Condolences
In November 1940 our Parents were evacuated from London to Kew Gardens in Surrey during the Blitz in world war two apparently by barge. I was born in Kew but obviously did not know much of Pats childhood years.
Pat moved to Canada when I was just 15 years old and when she worked at the British Medical Association she would retrieve many foreign stamps from around the globe for my stamp collection and would send me First Day Covers for which I was extremely grateful. I did see her a couple of times on stage, and very good she was. I was told that she was asked to become a professional actress but declined the request.
When I was very young she would scare me by making Big Eyes At Me.
For many years I always called her Trish and addressed her Birthday and Christmas Cards as such.
On the occasions I was able to speak with her by telephone we had many laughs telling each other quite rude jokes.
When Pat and Tony were staying with Pam and Peters on one occasion, I was able to join them for a round of golf and we had great fun mainly because my Big Sister was using some choice words. (Some of the cockney coming out)
This, I believe, was the last time I saw her.
I will miss your rude stories Trish but will forever remember what a great lady you were, sleep peacefully my darling In your new heavenly home.
Ron
The following from our sister Christine:-
I will always have the memories of us growing up together and I mean TOGETHER.
Chris.
I always looked forward to Auntie Pat & Uncle Tony’s visits. They would come and stay normally on route to another country. Auntie Pat always had a story to tell and I remember Nan would be tutting at the colourful language she used which always made us giggle. As we got older and had our own children she loved to see them and play and sing them funny songs. She enjoyed a social occasion and came to many celebrations in the family. I hope Uncle Tony has warned them upstairs that your on your way and to get a glass of wine ready for you. Thank you for all the lovely memories you have left us with we will have a glass or two for you tonight much love Maria David Jaime Daniel and Lucy xxxxx
Pat was a great sister. She went to Canada when I was 17 and I really missed her.
She had a great sense of humour. I used to help her with her lines when she was rehearsing for a play and we would be in fits of laughter especially when she was cast as a nun.
She sang in the St. Anne’s Church choir in Kew where we grew up.
We visited Pat &Tony many times in Calgary and they stayed with us when they were visiting England and loved spending time with our children and then the grandchildren. We had some great holidays together in Florida where we played golf and had lazy days sunbathing on the beach.
I phoned Pat regularly when she was in revera, it was so sad when when she didn’t know me in the last few months.
.
My favourite memory of Auntie Pat (& Uncle Tony ), was the great holiday I spent with them when I was in in early 20's , now almost 40 years ago! They took me to Banff, Vancouver, Lake Louise and many other places that I cant remember now. I had a brilliant time. Pat was always great company, with many tales to tell, she also spoke her mind which made her who she was.
She cooked some lovely meals, and introduced me to good wines , from their cellar!
Every evening at 6 pm we would open a bottle , never before 6pm tho !
I will miss her , and raise my glass at 6pm, no earlier !
