May 11, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Brad Funk of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the age of 60 years.

Brad was born in Calgary, AB on February 16, 1962. Brad’s family moved to Sexsmith, AB in 1968, they then moved to the family farm in Debolt, AB where he called home for many years. He moved back to Calgary, AB in 1980, but had returned to the Grande Prairie area a few times over his years. He then returned to Calgary, AB in 2009 and resided there until his untimely passing.

Brad’s proudest accomplishment was becoming a father to Ashley in 2001, she was and always will be his pride and joy. He would have moved heaven and earth for his little girl.

Brad was always the life of the party, when he was around, there was never a dull moment. He loved his Calgary Flames and was often spotted wearing his jerseys. For many years he loved to play hockey with his friends, especially his brother Pete and Curtis, his best friend. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed quading and camping with family and friends. He was very handy and loved doing home improvements and building things. He had a love of old cars and had a huge collection of replicas. He loved to play darts either in a pub or in the garage having a few wobbly pops while always listening to music. Some of his favorites were the Eagles, Iron Maiden, and Rush, but he also loved his country music. He had a gentle spirit and always loved animals. This was passed on to Ashley and their dog Sammy, who will miss him greatly. His final job gave him great satisfaction, he enjoyed the work, the travelling, and the people he worked with.

He will be most remembered for his quick wit and his sarcastic sense of humor. Family and friends were very important to him, and he cherished each and everyone of them.

Brad is survived by his daughter, Ashley Coulton-Funk of Calgary, AB; stepson Cody Coulton also of Calgary, AB, his sister Donna (James) McGillvray of Grande Prairie, AB; brother Peter of Calgary, AB and his sister-in-law Cassie Funk of Grande Prairie, AB.
