Condolences
So sad to hear of Laurie's passing. I have many childhood memories of times spent with
our families, get togethers at Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving, visits to our cottage
at Green Lake, Quebec and skiing at Camp Fortune.
Laurie reached out to me when he got his diagnosis and I was very touched. He was so upbeat
and positive as he always was, he seemed to be at peace and was going to make the best of his situation. We shared memories of my late brother David.
I will always remember Laurie's laugh, he had a great one, so much like his Dad's.
I encouraged him to publish a book of his wildlife photography, he had a real eye for
composition, whether it was a landscape or a bird in flight. I so enjoyed looking at his
latest photos of his adventures across North America.
My deepest sympathy to his family and to his brother Don.
Rest in peace, Laurie, you will be missed.
Our sincere condolences to Christy, Nancy, and Todd!! Laurie was a unique person, so intelegent, happy, always positive, and always willing to share his knowledge and help. We loved hearing his stories about all the places he traveled in his RV with Nancy, and the professional photos he took along the way. He was a great person to Bike with, always having the ingredients to make superb meals, and sharing his great library and knowledge of music! He was a great friend to everyone!!
May all your happy memories of Laurie, support and sustain you going forward!!!

Laurie and I worked together first at Ocelot and later at Murphy Oil. He was great to work with and a fountain of knowledge. He was great to travel with and I have many stories that cannot be mentioned! It was really good to see him again when he visited Tofino. He hadn't changed a bit - still funny and always positive.

Laurie and I were colleagues at Ocelot going back 40 plus years. We worked together on projects several times, he as geologist and I as geophysicist. One of the fondest memories of those distant work years was the rowdy lunchtime backgammon games (double! double you back!...). Ah, Laurie, you were one of the good ones, and we’ll miss you greatly.
My friend Laurie, a beautiful, gentle and kind soul. I thought the world of him and I’m so fortunate to have him as a friend.
Laurie and I were Teammates at Murphy Oil. That relationship grew into a lasting friendship. It was Laurie who introduced me to Friend’s Café and it became our favourite place to meet.
He truly loved life and experienced it to the fullest with his strong spirit and infectious optimism.
I hope that you are finding time to reflect on the beautiful relationships and memories Laurie blessed you with.

We would like to send our condolences to the family of Laurie Brough. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. The Strutt family.
Christy and Todd. I have known your dad for 50 years. We had camping and skiing adventures. Terratima was one of our favourite trips. There was a large group of us that all got together. Those were the party years and yes we did all party. So much fun!!
I also got to experience skiing with your dad and mum in Big Sky Montana. I have never seen anyone that could ski like your dad. It was magical to watch.
Your dad was so kind and always willing to help others. He never left Foothills Hospital when Cam Heath had his accident. Such an incredible friend to Craig and Kathryn.
He will be missed.
Todd, Christy, I am so very sorry we have all lost your dad. I have known Laurie for over 50 years, and he was a dear and staunch friend for the entirety of that relationship. Craig and I first met him in university, and he was a presence in our lives through our education, the arrival and raising of our children, during our respective various relocations and the inevitable trials and tribulations of life. He was an amazing influence on us, and in our lives, on Cameron and Graeme in particular, and he played an important role in all of our lives. He was family. I do not know a soul who was a kinder, more generous spirit than your father. The world is a lesser place for his departure. And we will miss him enormously. The memory of his smile, his gentle laughter, and the times we shared, will stay with me always. Kind regards and my condolences to you. Kathryn Heath
I send you my heartfelt condolences. Laurie and I reconnected during the pandemic, and that after many years of drifting without contact. He remains a person of honour, sensitivity and care, gifts that I shall honour now in my living.
My favourite memory of Laurie was he swimming Mirror Lk with a green garbage bag he fixed around the full leg length cast he was wearing. And of course water skiing under the bridge!!!!!
Love ya man!
Christina, Todd and Nancy
We are so sorry to hear about Laurie. He was such a good friend and neighbour. We lived beside him for 17years on 1st Ave. NW and he was always helpful and we chatted daily. After we moved to Ottawa, we met twice - once on the Gaspe. He was heading west and we were heading east. Once in Ottawa he came to visit us in Ottawa.
He will sorely missed.

Nancy, Christie, Todd and all the family, we send our best wishes and condolences. Laurie was such a lovable guy, always warm, engaged and with a ready laugh. We had lots of fun way back playing softball with the gang in Calgary, debating whether it be donuts or beer after to celebrate. We loved his Christmas letters where Laurie always found the chance to appreciate life as it was, no matter what difficulties had come his way. He retained this great spirit throughout. Laurie will be deeply missed for sure.
Love to his family and dear friends. Ron and Kathy Erdman
Laurie and I worked together at Ocelot in the 80's and 90's. One of the projects was in Sudan and we travelled there together on business on a couple of occasions. We had long discussions about the technical aspects of our work and we did not agree with each other all the time. I appreciated his character and personality. My condolences to his kids and family. He will be missed.

Awwww ‘Brough’ - we never had that last visit. Laurie & I worked together for many years - he was an excellent geologist, with dogged determination! We traveled together and really enjoyed our times together. We had some great technical arguments! :-). ‘Brough’ … I will miss you buddy. You leave a great legacy, and love of your family. I am so sorry to be in the UK during your celebration. Cheers buddy!
Todd & Christie & family - may God grant you peace as you mourn your dad. May many good memories be yours.
