Heather and I send our sincere condolences to Wendy and the entire Hughson family. Carl was a good friend of ours.
“Passionate”, is indeed the best word to describe Carl and his life. I knew Carl as a former classmate (Honours BSc. Geology at UWO), colleague in the oil patch, and as a good friend. On many walks, lunches, coffee breaks, and home visits, the discussions were always about his family, geology, and his hobbies (sailing, photography, and his pets), and predominately in that order. He was always up on current affairs. He was a highly regarded geologist. Carl had a great sense of humour, always spoke the truth and was a man of integrity.
Carl reminds us that it’s not how long you live but how you live that matters. We miss him.
I am saddend to learn of Carl’s passing, he was my next door neighbor at work at Burlington and he always shared his vacation and weekend adventures with me. A highly regarded geologist, photographer and just a great guy
Wendy and Emma,
I was so very sad when I heard Carl passed away. I had the pleasure of working with Carl for several years. Carl was a fabulous and creative geologist, a trustworthy colleague and a wonderful mentor. I miss him.
The “other” Wendy
I had the pleasure of working with Carl four separate times, once at Esso, twice at PanCanadian and at Husky. Carl was a very inventive, diligent geologist. He had the creativity, imagination and technical knowledge to be a truly exceptional explorationist. Working with Carl, something was always happening. There was never a dull moment.
As we were both native Montrealers, we had a lot in common. We talked a lot about our experiences in Quebec and frequently solved all the world's problems.
Wendy and Emma, please accept my sincere condolences. You have been through so much over the last few years. Best wishes under the circumstances and we will keep you in our prayers. Sincerely, John Weissenberger
Wendy, we are so very sorry for your loss. The news of Carl's passing was shocking and very sad. We will always remember times spent on our boats as special moments, sharing the simple pleasure of being on the water. Even sharing our maintenance woes seemed enjoyable. As time passes we hope that these happier memories will colour your life.
If there is anything we can do to help you through this difficult time, especially with tasks out here on the west coast, please let us know. You are forever in our thoughts.
Brad and Bev
