Condolences
We just heard about Ken’s passing and wanted to send our sincere condolences to Gail and son Brent.
Although we haven’t seen Ken for years, we have many happy memories of early days together in the 80’s, camping, dirt biking and partying. I noticed that most people mentioned his sense of humour and thats what we remember most of Ken as well. Taken far too young from life.
Terry and Nancy Schmautz, Okotoks
Our sincerest condolences to Gail and Brent. I worked with Kenny at 6district for many years
He was an awesome guy to work with. He was hilarious and he made the workplace easier to deal with. He and Ross helped me many times with my crappy cars. I was blessed to know him. He will be missed.
Our deepest condolences to Gail and Brent, Mary, Carmen and families. Our hearts were sad to hear of Ken’s passing, our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. At the time we knew Ken he was such a happy, fun-loving person.

My sincere condolences for your loss. I met Ken in 1977 when I started with the CPS. There was never a dull day because Ken loved a good joke. In the early days we would celebrate our birthdays on my backyard deck in Huntington Hills.
Ken will be truly missed for his cheerful attitude in life,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Dear Gail, Brent and Family,
When I think of Kenny, I see the best smile in the room. It was a privilege to be his friend, I will cherish the memories always.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

Our heartfelt condolences to you, Gail and Brent. We remember Ken fondly from our Beddington Heights days so many years ago.
We send a big hug to you, Gail, at this sad time. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. May God bring you comfort in your cherished memories of Ken, and in the love of family and friends.
When I first joined the Ogden Lushes it was Kenny that welcomed me with open arms and made me immediately feel like a true member of the Team. He was larger than life and will truly be missed by all.
Kenny was an absolute legend around the service, but especially in 6 District. You wouldn't find one person with something negative to say. He was always so on top of the fleet that constantly had the hell beat out of it and this kept guys safe. Kenny did a lot of extra things for a lot of people and I'm sure we could all sit all day and swap stories. Always looked forward to seeing him at the CPA tourny. He will be missed by many.
Ken was a one of a kind! They broke the mold when he was created. Always cracking a joke and keeping everyone laughing. I remember after recently meeting Ken when he started dating Gail, that he thought it was outrageous I was wearing red nail polish and was suggesting that Gail do the same!
Terry and I also have fond memories of him enjoying shrimp to the max, singing his heart out, while playing (yes, lets say playing) the piano and wearing his sunglasses (indoors) at out wedding reception. He was a star that night for sure and we all sang along with him.
Funny the things we remember...
Keep em in stitches up their my friend as I'm sure they're happy to have you joining that 'sky club'.
Gail and Brent, our hearts and love are with you today and we are here for you now and always ❤❤
Ken, you were an absolute beauty! Always quick to offer help or to crack a joke. I'm sorry that our careers didn't align better so I could have gotten to know you better. You will be missed my friend.
Dear Gail, Brent and family,
Our sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to you all on the passing of Ken. We were so lucky to have the best neighbors ever for the years we lived next door to you and Ken. He truly had the best laugh and zest for life and a beautiful love for family and friends. May your precious memories carry you through and comfort you always.

Gail, Brent and Family. I was deeply saddened to hear of Kenny AKA "Schmooze" passing. He was always full of life, energy and humour. He lit up any room he walked into and brought gut busting laughter to all. He battled his illness with grace and bravery. His sprit will be with all CPS members that had the privilege to know him. My thoughts and prayer are with you all during this most difficult time.

He was Santa Claus at Christmas for my daughters.
He was my competition, racing Harleys down 6th ave at 2 am ( and 3 wheel Cushmans ).
He provided my dad with cold beers on hot days, while listening to tales of the old country.
He taught Gordie Howe all about Sambuca Shots.
He was a story teller that everyone enjoyed.
He was a smart and funny guy.
He enjoyed all his friends and co-workers very much.
Everybody knew Kenny, and they all loved him.
Most of all, Kenny loved his Family. Always a proud husband and dad.

To Gail and Brent, our deepest condolences. Heaven gained an angel, and I am sure he will keep things rolling! Ken was the kindest man, always willing to share a story, a beer, and his love for his family. I had the honor of working at District 6 and District 8 with him and will always cherish those times! Kenny was always willing to share a smile and touched all he met in a magical way. We will miss seeing him but will never forget him or what he brought to our lives. Love you!

I was very fortunate to have spent a lot of time with Kenny. He was a generous man who shared his friendship, his love of life, and most of all his family.Gail and Brent also are part of our extended family. So lucky for their friendship. He was a friend of all friends. His greatest gift was a phone call out of the blue just to see how you were and have a chat. Our family is a lot less complete now. My adult kids miss him. My daughter Lindsey has a new guardian angel.
Keep your stick on the ice Kenny. We love ya.
P.s I still can’t cheer for the flyers.
Ken was part of the 6 District crew, some of my nicest memories as a young Cst there include the many chats in the garage with Ken and Ross. Ken was always available for a laugh and a talk. My condolences to his family, he was so kind and will be remembered with a smile.
I feel so very blessed to have met Kenny in District 6 where we became friends and continued that friendship throughout the years.
He was such a large integral part of our team in District 6.
Kenny was an amazing soul that had such an incredibly positive personality that always moved us all forward.
Gail, Brent, family and friends, Kenny will be dearly missed by his CPS family. There truly is no one like "Kenny." I was in "awe" every time I saw him; the energy, the fight he had in him to not let cancer get the better of him.
My sincere condolences to all of you.
Sueanne Ford
Our sincere condolences to Gail and Brent. I loved being around Kenny. He always made Tamara and I feel like we have always been a part of the family and long time friends. Kenny's personality was infectious and you could not help getting caught up in his conversations, laughter, humor and his stories. The kindest man I know will be greatly missed.
Jeff & Tamara Mago
I had the good fortune to work with Ken for a considerable time at District 6. During his entire tenure as our treasured mechanic and "Fleet Commander", Ken was VERY much a part of our entire team. Indeed, the many, many officers who came to our District as new arrivals or as transfers in from other units all remember Ken fondly. He set the rules, and everyone followed them. He comported himself with kindness, intelligence and good humor each and every day, and he worked hard, taking pride in everything he did. . I never, ever, heard him complain about "the job"...quite the contrary, he was unfailingly upbeat, and just happy to be part of the workings of our District. In particular I remember the fondness he had for the rum balls which my wife Diana made each Christmas. She always prepared a separate batch for him alone, as the box we placed in the parade room emptied quite quickly. My wife and I, and all who knew him, will miss him very much, and we will remember him fondly. My sincere and heartfelt sympathies to Gail and all of Ken;s family and loved ones.

Gail and Brent,
My deepest condolences to you and your family on the passing of Ken. I worked in Diatrict 6 for a couple years with Kenny. Ken and Doug Hamper and I often went out for breakfast to just enjoy each other’s company and bounce District and mechanical ideas around. I enjoyed his company always and his humorous wit and zest for life was contagious and touched everyone he met. He was always friendly and never shied away from offering his opinion on things we faced in the District, Service or the world.
I often ran into him after I left the district in different areas and situations and he never changed his positive outlook even in his struggle with his cancer. Gail, I know he cherished you and I could see that at the Christmas parties I saw you at.
Ken will be missed by all that knew him.
Sincerely,
Terry Larson (Inspector, retired)
Ken was a champion and inspiration to others in so many ways. The world has lost a great guy! RIP
Gail, Brent, Carmen, Mary and the rest of the family my Deepest Condolences.
Gail, Ken is now an Angel watching over you and your loved ones.
Kenny was my friend. We shared fun, laughs & adventures. We also helped each other through serious times when we were both in the hospital with our sick & dying parents. We spent many an hour in the hallway supporting each other in those sad times.
Kenny was my Go-To-Man at CPS when I had surreptitious collisions & adventures. He was always there to lend a helping hand when I personally played way to hard resulting in minor collateral damage. If it wasn't for Kenny my CPS Drivers License would have had way to many points on a regular basis. I would have been walking rather than driving, a lot.
Kenny I will miss your smiling face & your robust presence.
Sincerely Judy Walters (Beattie)
I grew up with Kenny and have many fond memories of backyard Birthday parties, peanut scrambles, BBQS and swimming. We won the Stanley Cup at Banff Trail Community and the Grey Cup in our front yard and the boulevards of BanffTrail. We played kick the can, tag, hide and seek and rode our bikes. Yes, sometimes until the street lights came on. Also had a small part in a Krazy Karpet Commercial. We went to places like the Victoria Pavilion and cheered for people with names like Dan Krofatt, Duke Myers and The Stomper.
We went through our school years together and life takes people in different directions. I left in 1976. We reconnected in the late 1980’s.
Growing up, Kenny was the brother I never had and I will miss him.
Gail, Brent, Carmen, Mary and the rest of the family my Deepest Condolences.
Kenny was our go-to guy whenever we had some sort of mechanical malfunction or “mishap” with a Service vehicle. He was never “judgie” when some of our less brilliant vehicular maneuvers resulted in the need for repair work. He always got a good laugh out of the explanations…lame as they often were. He was a committed and well respected member of the Service and i am proud to have known him. Please accept my sincere condolences and best wishes to Ken’s family.
Gail and Brent, please accept my condolences for your loss. Ken was certainly a bright shining light. While we didn't know each other well in High School, I lived down the block from him. He was one of the "founding members" of our now Abe 75 group and I will always remember his enthusiasm in connecting people. He spoke often of his family - his deep love for you Gail and his unending love and pride for Brent. I will miss him.
