Obituary of Bill Burns

August 13, 1934 – Weyburn, Saskatchewan

July 22, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Bill Burns of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022, at the age of 87 years. Bill passed away peacefully at his residence at Providence Care Centre; he was surrounded by loved ones.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Judy (Brent) McLellan of Oakville, Ontario, cherished grandsons, Cameron McLellan (Julia) of London, Ontario, great-granddaughter Eva, and Jeremy McLellan of Toronto, Ontario. Bill is also survived by his sister Bonnie Stevens of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and brother Sandy Burns of Calgary, As well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Bill was predeceased by his wife, Jean (2010) and his son, David (2021).

Bill enjoyed a long career as a banker at CIBC. He was a collector of knowledge, an avid reader and loved to engage in conversation with family, friends and fellow residents and staff at Providence. He faced life with enthusiasm and positivity while navigating challenges with declining health.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here. 

Bill will be missed by so many. Much gratitude and appreciation for the devoted care and friendship shown by Thao Pham, Cecilia Asunción, Ross and Pam Hicks as well as the quality of care provided by the staff at Providence.
