Obituary of Henry Jan Mew

Henry Mew, beloved husband of Jody Iles and father to Alexander Mew of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at the age of 61 years.
Henry was born in Calgary, Alberta on October 26, 1960. He attended school in Bowness, then graduated from SAIT with a diploma of Chemical Engineering Technology and then the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering which he enjoyed using while working at Clark Builders, PCL Construction, and Graham construction.
Henry married Jody in 1993 and welcomed son Alexander in 1994.
Henry accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of his family, his ability to remember what you said you loved and then finding it. His garden, greenhouse, and all his hobbies he enjoyed during his short retirement.
Henry had a passion for cooking, gardening, hunting, fishing, and all music from the 60-70’s.
Henry’s most memorable vacation was when he traveled with his family to Australia, and fishing with Alexander, Gary, and Rick.
He will be most remembered for his thoughtfulness, generosity, tie-dye, and abundance of meats he made (jerky, sausage, bacon) which he loved to share. Henry was always available for late night soup runs to Chinatown and enjoyed meeting friends for lunch or coffee.
Besides his loving wife, Henry is survived by his son Alexander. Henry is also survived by Father Jack Mew, his three brothers; James, George, Edward Mew of Calgary AB; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Jenny, Marian (Dean), Elaine, Elizabeth of Calgary, AB; as well as numerous friends.
Henry was predeceased by his mother Susan Mew, and grandparents Jan Kum Mew and See Yuen Mew.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40 Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 11:00 am. Coffee, Tea to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Private family Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery following the reception.
