Condolences
The tiny lady from across the street.
I met you in the mall where I worked, staring with a SWEET SMILE, then a "HELLO", then conversations. I looked so forward to these two or three days I'd see you each week. At home sitting in my chair I looked out the window and there you were, that tiny lady going into the house across the street.
My "LIFE NOW CHANGED" with so much more love - you were my friend, a sister, and a mom.
Words can't tell how precious you were to me. You'd come to my home, I'd style your hair, we would laugh and we would cry, and that "BIG SMILE" when I threw you birthday parties! I'd take you for manicures, pedicures, shopping and walks. You shared your life stories with me.
Thoughts started to slowly fade after a while but when I told you my name, I'd get a tiny smile. Pain has been taken away and Peace has now been given to you. I now see the candle in your window and I whisper "Good Night". I LOVE YOU and will meet again. A piece of my heart is with you always.
Virginia
Your were my aunt for more than 64 years. I can remember that you came to the Netherlands in the early 60´s 70´s and 80´s to meet your brothers and sisters and your mother. Somewhere in the 90´s you were in the Netherlands (we like to call it Holland) and you came to my house in Waalwijk.
In 2008 you came to Holland with Fred and you and Fred had a great time, what a joy you had with the rest of the family. We got to know each other better in that period because you stayed at my sisters place. In the following years you tried to come every year because you felt at home at the place you were born. In Oosterhout you also stayed at your sisters Nels place....good times!
Every time you came i picked you up at the airport and brought you back each time to be sure you would go on that plane...because you never wanted to go home. Not really true because you wanted to go home to your sons.
In 2017 you were in Holland for the last time. I dropped you at uncle Helmuts family in Germany and picked you up again after a week. You spoke the German dialect there like you were born there. Quite funny to hear. But then you got sick in Holland and you had to go to hospital where you had to stay for a while untill you were able to fly back again with a nurse.
That was the last time we could look each other in the eyes and we knew this was the last hug and kiss we could give each other.....
And now you have left us, the last of the Van den Houdt´s who was alive. It is hard to realise that you have left us but i cherish the moments we were together. Fun in the car and making jokes but also be serious about life and death...
Daaaaag tante, love you!
Thijs
