Obituary of Hedwig (Hedy) Caroline Gerwing (nee Langen)

July 20, 1923 - Lake Lenore, Saskatchewan

September 2, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Our loved mom, Hedy Caroline Gerwing of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022 at the age of 99 years.

Hedy was born to parents, Joseph Langen and Hedwig Hogg. Hedy married Clement Gerwing in 1946 after the war. They had six children: Linda (Laurie) Jacques, Erica (Jeff) Baggs, Debby (Bruce) Wheeler, Harriet (Dave) Quigley, Tim Gerwing (Patricia), and John Gerwing. Also surviving are eleven beloved grandchildren: Carly, Heather, Jeff Jr., Lindsay, David, Doug, Sarah, Ben, Kelsey, Michael and Lauren. She just welcomed her fourteenth great-grandchild.  Hedy was predeceased by Clem in 2014 after 67 years of marriage.  They enjoyed a wonderful life filled with memories of family, business, and travel.

At Hedy’s request, there will not be a funeral. A private family Celebration of Hedy’s Life will be held. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be directed to the Denise Lindsay Gerwing Memorial Bursary.
