Condolences
Dear Slavica & Family,
I am deeply saddened by this news you shared with me just today while I was singing and ringing the bells at Superstore. Josip was always so friendly on my rides with him or when we ran into each other. He once asked me to go to a movie with him many years ago but I didn’t want to watch “Dumb and Dumber.” Then I remember seeing Josip one year at the Salvation Army’s Kettle Campaign Volunteer Appreciation party. I am glad he was able to get out to share some of the same activities I did. I am always here, so please keeo in touch if you like. I will be in the neighborhood ringing the bells and singing at your workplace a lot in this month of December. Lots of love and healing hugs. Take care…

I had the honour to work alongside Josip at Bow Valley College and see him "walk the stage" with his graduating class. Josip had an infectious laugh, a passion for hockey which he shared with classmates in a fantasy hockey league and a great sense of humour. Josip always had strong opinions and was never afraid to share them, but he was always gentle and kind. He touched the lives of so many people and I will never forget the lessons he taught me in the few years I knew him.
Jo, you will be dearly missed and I will always think of you now when I order my coffee with milk.
Slavica & Boro, I cannot even imagine your grief. My deepest sympathies to you and your family at this time. I hope you find comfort in knowing just how big of an impact Josip had on his community.
My sincerest condolences to the Tomic family. I had the pleasure of teaching Josip in junior high at St. Vincent de Paul. Josip brought much joy to my life and my classroom. Josip was an amazing friend to all that met him. Josip was always offering to lend a hand and help others. He was truly an inspiration and will be dearly missed.

Over my teaching career, I came across many amazing students but one that shines ever so brightly is our Josip. I had the honour and privilege to teach Josip in Gr. 5 at St. Michael's School. What struck me most was how easily Josip fit in with his fellow classmates and how much they respected him. That was certainly evident watching him line the kids up going to PE or greeting them at the front door of the school. Each day I received a report on the POP (probability of Precipitation) and a discussion on the latest goings on with the Calgary Flames. His infectious giggle was ever present in our classroom as was his determination to not let his physical limitations stop him from enjoying life. Over the years, I stayed in touch with Josip and the Tomic family following his life throughout the remainder of his schooling and into his post secondary and finally, at his work with Calgary West. I will dearly miss our chats and emails, but will cherish the memories of watching this fine young man overcome life's challenges. My prayers and thoughts are with the entire Tomic Family. You raised a truly amazing son.
Dragi Josipe, bratiću. Počivao u miru Božjem. Tvoj lik i dobrota ostat će zauvijek u našim sjećanjim, srcima i mislima. Do ponovnog susreta na onom svijetu posljednji pozdrav od familije Tomic. Drazen, Alma, Vanessa I Dane.
Tomic family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember Josip fondly as a student at St. Michael Elementary & Junior High school. He was always cheerful, engaged, and often had a quip or joke to share with others. He had such a wonderful spirit about him. Please accept our deepest condolences and know that we are praying for you in this difficult time.

Josip had a laugh that was wonderful and so contagious! He really did light up a room! Josip’s bravery and determination in the face of so many daily challenges were an inspiration to all of us. When Darby is having a hard day, he often comments on how he is trying to be more like Josip in his attitude. Their friendship helped Darby so much through the difficult school years. Darby and I will cherish forever his friendship with Josip and the time spent with him. Making Josip laugh was one of Darby’s favourite things to do! The loss of Josip will be felt by all of those whose lives were made better by knowing him and he will remain forever in our hearts. We send all of our love and condolences to the Tomic family. Love - Sue and Darby Taylor xo
