Condolences
It has been my honour to know Yvonne for the past twenty plus years. She took me under her wing to mentor the fine arts of community activism. A daunting task few would have had the patience for. Over the years I learned from Yvonne the qualities of true leadership. Yvonne was tenacious in pursuit, resilient from set backs, but never so absorbed as to lose her dazzling sense of humour Yvonne was always an inspiration to me & I suspect I will never fully add up the multitude of ways she influenced me .I owe her so much and I'll always treasure the gift of knowing her.
It was my privilege to know Yvonne through many Calgary 55 Plus activities. Yvonne was so organized and efficient she made everything look easy. Her friendly demeanour was always appreciated. She will be missed. May she rest well.
Sincerely
Peggy Plathan
I am so sorry to read that Yvonne has left our world. Our old bowling team just got together last week and reminisced about Yvonne, Rosella and Rose. Yvonne was a ball of fun at bowling, at Thorncliffe, anywhere we ran into her. I hope your memories will sustain you in time, as I know how difficult it is to lose the Mom and matriarch of the family. Our hearts and prayers are with you all. Deep condolences, Marjorie and Leo Aucoin
I am sadden to hear of your mums passing, she was an amazing woman I am glad I had the pleasure to know her.
RIP my friend and enjoy your angel wings.
Big hug to you all your mum will never be forgot x
Yvonne was a true bestie. We were definitely a small gang and Yvonne made mischief fun. I have lost counting the times we would lovingly “vandalize” home with birthday greetings. Once we even decorated the wrong house and so we had to do a 1 am do over. She made the Calgary 55 volunteering a laugh as we got lost finding the various sites across the city and province. I have poured more coffee and served more pie with Yvonne than a professional waitress. It is so hard for me to not reach for the phone as was our daily ritual, and share how are days went, the local gossip, and just girl friendship. I miss you dear one. Life is less fun without you. Love Rose Marie
To the Armstrong family: you don’t know me but I wish to say how sad I was to hear of your mums passing! I live in Saskatoon, but was raised in KERROBERT. My family( the Rupert’s), were good friends of the Armstrong family growing up. I knew your mum then & had chances to see your folks at the KERROBERT reunions, etc. over the years. Always lots of laughs. Your dad was a good friend of my brother Laurie Rupert, who’s in Calgary. Old railroad families! You’ll have many good memorie to cherish! Thinking of you all at this time! …..Mary Lou Forrest
Yvonne was a kind and wonderful woman with a great wit. She will be missed.

Such sad news. She was a lovely lady and so kind. She will be greatly missed. The James Gang.
I work at the TGCA and Yvonne always made me laugh. She visited with us in the office frequently, and I will miss her chuckle and wit. My sympathies to all those who knew her well, as it seems those that did, loved her very much.
I did not know Yvonne on a personal level but I remember the greatness she brought to the Mother’s Day Tea every year. Her dedication to volunteering was admirable! May the many find memories you have keep her close in your hearts always.
Condolences to family and friends.
It was my honour to meet Yvonne through Alberta 55 plus. Yvonne was a very special lady and an exceptionally dedicated volunteer.. Yvonne was always there when I needed support and advice. Thank you Yvonne as a newbie I would never have made it “without you in my corner”.
Yvonne and Bob were always a big part of Elda and Ernie Bengert’s life, playing cards every Saturday night, going to dances at the Thorncliffe community hall and visiting them in Arizona. A big thank you Yvonne for being such a lovely niece to my parents and friend of my family as well. Blessings dear cousin , Linda Ormson, High River, Ab.
Leanne and family,
I am so saddened and sorry to hear of the loss of your mom/grandma. She was such a big part of my childhood with the community and playing ringette with you. I always had a good visit with her at the various Thorncliffe Women's Group functions (Mother's day tea) - she gave a lot of herself to the community and she will be missed. Sending you a hug Leanne. Trish
