Obituary of Gerald Thomas Stride

 

December 9, 1929 – Edmonton, Alberta

October 30, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Gerald “Jerry” Stride, Beloved husband of the late Gloria Stride (nee Sohnle) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the age of 92 years. Jerry passed peacefully at the Foothills Hospital with his son Kelly Stride by his side.

 

Jerry was an active member of St. Davids United Church, a founding member of the Ever-Green Seniors Hiking Club. Jerry enjoyed curling at the North Hill Seniors Curling Club, the Calgary Curling Club and Petroleum Curling Club.

 

Jerry and Gloria enjoyed spending summers at their cottage at Wabamun Lake and also enjoyed worldwide travel, making many friends along the way.

 

Jerry is lovingly remembered by his two sons, Kelly (husband, Tom Arnold-Stride) of Calgary and Jay (life partner Rhonda West) of Nova Scotia. His two grandchildren, Morgan of P.E.I and Emily of Nova Scotia. Jerry is also lovingly remembered by Patricia (Pat) Greenaway (best friend and companion) they also enjoyed travelling the world and spending time together. He is also survived by three sister in-laws, Alma Chase of Sherwood Park, AB, Doris Sohnle of Edmonton, AB, Betty Stride of Edmonton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

At Jerry’s request there will be no funeral or memorial service held, Jerry requested a fun family celebration of life at the cottage, date yet to be determined.
